how long is the wait from NVC to interview?

hi all,

just wondering what your experience was like - i sent in my AOS/IV packages at the end of october; didn't receive any email notice saying that they received it, but DHL confirmed it was signed for at their office, so i assume they did receive it. it's been over a month now since they received it, and i still have not heard anything.

how long is the usual wait to see if i have an RFE? if there is nothing wrong with the application, then how long does it normally take before it is sent off to our defacto embassy here (in taiwan)? trying to get a better idea of dates (so i know what i can tell my employers here for estimated departure).

if there's no RFEs and everything goes "smoothly," would it be too optimistic to say we could get back to the states at the end of February? (that gives the rest of the process about 2.5 months.

thanks for your advice!

If I've learned anything through my process, and the experiences of some friends, is that things take time and nothing really works the way you think it will. Sometimes documents sit on a desk for a while before they are reviewed, so they can technically be there but not logged or viewed yet. Try emailing them to check on your status, as its been over 30 days. Thats usually a safe window to start asking.

As for a goal of the end of Feb, that might be optimistic a bit. I've heard things slow down a lot over the holidays. Now, it could go really well and things could fly by, but there are a few more steps before you have your paperwork in hand. My advice would be to not book any plane tickets or the like until you have your stuff in hand.

Hi! You might want to check our this forum:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/616049-october-scan-date/

I am not sure whether DCF would still go through the same process as everyone else but its really a case to case basis regarding case complete and RFE. Some received RFE much earlier but has to wait 6 weeks to actually get a case complete after submitting RFEs. Some no RFE took 6-8 weeks still. I'm blessed to get a case complete in 17 days after scan date. You can check my timeline but would really say 6-8 weeks is pretty normal these days.
