I heard of job offer before but never bank statements . Did they specifically ask for those or did you take the initiative to do that ?

Naah bank statements are not required, I only did to add substance to my letter to prove that an expedite would indeed help us.

It doesn't have to be, mine is not the BEST paying job, but a job is a job, especially when you're currently unemployed. So go ahead give it a shot!

Yes very true! I will give it a try and let y'all know!

I'm curious about expediting the EAD.

Is it a lot quicker to try to expedite the EAD? How do you go about doing this? How do you prove the criteria they require?

And I'm wondering exactly how people have managed to get job offers without an EAD to show a potential employer?

Biometrics Appointment:02/16/2017

Notification of EAD mailed: 03/31/2017

  • Hey there, I would say that it can be quicker because I highly doubt that I would have been approved before 90 days, due to Oct & Nov and the backlog I'd suppose for Dec.
  • I had called USCIS customer service to request an expedite. They will ask a few questions that you already know and then they will list the criteria for an expedite in which I chose Severe financial loss to a person and Emergency situation.
  • I proved both criteria by sending a letter I typed and signed as the beneficiary explaining both criteria mentioned above and also sent it with a job letter.
  • To get a job letter I see a lot of persons applied online (not all) but I applied on a physical application form and was called in for an interview in which I explained my current situation. They did ask how long do I think it would take to get my EAD and SSN because they needed someone to fill the spot ASAP. I told them some time in March (applied early Feb) and my 90th day is in March as well. So to my surprise I got approved later on and got a formal letter explaining job position, annual salary expected start date and that I had to sign the second copy and return to accept this position.
  • So as I conclude I think both the letter and the job letter helped. I've seen someone wrote a letter explaining their reason for expediting without having a job letter and got approved, so I know it is possible without a job letter.
  • I sent a cover sheet, a copy of the letter from USCIS requesting additional evidence, copy of I-765, copy of I-131, copy of biometrics letter with stamp of being completed, letter explaining reason for requesting expedite, job offer letter, bank statement for Jan.

Tried to be as detailed as possible, if anything you can ask I'm more than willing to help, best of luck!

Thank you for all this info. It's very useful. Thinking of expediting if it takes too long (100+ days) which I couldn't justify if I had to show my bank account.Im relieved ?.

I had no idea some people managed to expedite without presenting a letter .

Anyway, enjoy !!

Hoping for more good news for my fellow December filers !

100+ days would mean basically that an officer probably already has your case with others to be reviewed. What you could if you haven't as yet is to do a SR, a friendly reminder to USCIS that your case is beyond the 90 days. But you can always do the expedite as well especially if you can prove it.

Best of luck and thank youu!!

Curious.  How long ago did you put in for the expedition?  I am wondering if it is at this point worth it or just wait a few more weeks.  My insurance company needs proof ( EAD ) and sent a letter so I guess that could be used as reason for expedition.

It was the Tier 2 staff who told me. Two tier staff told me on two separate occasions. One said they were working oj April 2016. Two weeks after, the next one said they jumped off from April 2016 to August 2016.

During that time, I was really anxious as my status for I-765 and I-485 were left unchanged. When she told me it jumped to 2016, my heart suddenly got uplifted. So I kinda just relaxed myself and a few days after that, my EAD got approved and my I-485 was changed saying "Ready for Interview".

I was skeptical about the jump in processing times before. But when my status changed, i suddenly became a believer. Lol

I just don't know if it goes with those who got RFE. I also expected one before and asked the Tier 2 officer about it. She said it won't affect the timeline that much just as long as the applicant submits the needed info on time. She said if the answer is delayed by a month, the petition is also delayed by a month.

I do not rely on the posted priority dates. Whenever I have something to ask, I directly talk to a Tier 2 Officer. That works for me, I just don't have much idea with the rest. It's better to try calling them and get a tiny piece of info than to sulk in one corner and make your head ache with unanswered questions. ?

Hahaha. Thank you for your sympathetic sharings, Cooldude20! I've been hopelessly waiting for my status to change to the same as yours day by day. And even my status for my I-765 couldn't be checked online either! Its been 1 week since I received my NOA1 for my I-765. Super frustrating!!! ?
