Yup, and considering the new developments under the new president, i won't be surprised if the wait times become wilder and more erratic.

As Sebastian said I think it means nothing just that perhaps they are done with my processing at the MSC and are forwarding to the office. I have had a lot of backround checks in the past as well due to the nature of my job, so perhaps that sped that process up?

That being said, does anyone know how that executive order signed affects current / pending refugees applying for permanent residence? Or is that a whole different process? I think the reason why MN is so backed up is because they do process a lot of refugee applications. Not saying that is a bad thing but just was going to see if they are still processing those right now? If they have been put in hold I would imagine a lot of the other cases would be accelerated forward

Theoretically yes, because Minnesota is one of the states to receive Syrian and Somalian refugees, both of which have been affected by the executive order regarding immigration. Syrian refugee program has been suspended indefinately and Somalian refugee program has been suspended for 120 days.

But who knows whats happening inside the Field Office, its anybody's guess. However, at the cost of sounding selfish, i hope it does speed up process for others.

Hey guys hope everyone is having a good week!

Does anyone know if im going to need to present a passport at my AOS interview? I need to change my name on my old passport but the consulate wants to take in my old passport  I dont really feel comfortable being in the country with no passport and a pending application for a passport which is going to take 4-6 months to process according to the South African consulate.

I am pretty sure you need your valid passport. Ask your consulte/embassy for an expedite. Also, my consulate offers something called a consular ID card, yours should have something similar too. I am getting it before turning my passport for renewal. Just to be safe.
