I agree, its just painful, especially because the process is so opaque, wait never seems to end. But i guess we just have to be patient.

I applied for the EAD renewal in November itself, considering how stupid and unreliable the process is ....

considering it has been more than 120 days since your interview in September, i would urge you to take an InfoPass appointment rather than an Online/Telephone service request, it should be more enlightening.

Also did the officer give you the printout, saying they are recommending for approval, or did they say it is pending review and decision cannot be made at that point of time ?

I've scheduled an infopass for 2nd week in Feb and hoping to get more tangible answer from them. After the interview, the office simply said to expect to hear from them in the mail and gave us a copy of the number slip that they give you when you come into the waiting room. I'm not really sure what that means or what to make of it.

That's good that you have the infopass now, wishing you the best.

Generally, the interviewer at the end of the interview atleast here in minnesota, give you a printout, which has 4 options, and he/she ticks one of them.

First is, your app is being recommended for approval and you should hear something soon, Second is your app is being processed and a decision cannot be made at this point..and so on..

Any tip on how to approach them at the InfoPass, to get better answers/responses?

I have never had one, but from what i have read, just keep it crisp and to the point and even if the answers are weird don't show any irritation.

Most officers are very understanding and you can tell them your concerns and they will try to tell you to he best to their knowledge. I am not sure how much more information is available to them compared to the typical customer service officer on the phone. I would compare them more to the Tier II officers on phone who have the ability to see your file a little more but not fully like an IO who took your interview.

Some people say it didn't help at all, some say something moved after the meeting. Its just a mixed back like everything at USCIS unfortunately :(

Most importantly you are covering your bases and just completing the process, because god forbid if your case is still stuck, you can show that you have tried everything under the sun, from calls to infopass and uscis is still not transparent.
