It most likely will be the interview notice. Hopefully they give you enough Time to prepare.

My medical expired months ago. They had sent a letter telling to bring a new one when I get an interview date.

Good luck 👍🏽 I’ll keep you updated as to how it goes. Ours is downtown too( federal plaza). It came much faster than expected !

I was so scared when I saw the usps notice for immigration.I have to go to France on the 27th , I was sure my interview date would be during my trip. I’m glad it’s before.

Does anybody know whether I can get some kind of stamp/ proof before traveling or should I just use my Advance Parole ? I’m leaving the day after my interview.

They usually don't agree to give stamps unless you have a good reason.

I suggest you bring proof of your travels and explain your situation to the IO and ask for a stamp IF you get approved on the spot. You might be able to get one while you're already in the office.

If you don't get approved on the spot it gets much trickier, as your AP will be invalid from the day you become a LPR, you can't travel on the AP when you're a LPR. So what happens if you become a LPR while being abroad? The AP is invalid by then, and you don't have your greencard in hand, and no stamp.

Well, I had no idea about all of this ! Thank you for letting me know, I would've never guessed.I just assumed I could use my Advance parole to come back , even if already approved.I will definitely ask at the interview and bring my flight etc...

Thank you again, you may have saved me !

Had our AoS interview this morning at 07:30. We were probably the first one scheduled for the day. The process took about 10-15 minutes. We had submitted everything with regards to finances, medical, etc. with our AoS package back in December.

The interview was initiated by the immigration officer making us take an oath that we would speak the truth. She then looked at my passport (did not look at my USCs passport), and our driver's licenses that showed we lived at the same address. She went through and confirmed my birthday, current address, and I-485 yes/no questions. She asked the both of us individually if 1) anyone else had filed a AoS petition on behalf of/for before, 2) if we had been married before, and 3)  if we had kids. She then asked us to briefly state how we met, where and when. etc.

Next, she asked if we had met each other's families and who was in attendance at our court wedding. My USC spouse took out a photo from the photo album we had brought to show her that his family was in attendance at our courthouse wedding. She asked to keep the picture. Next, she asked if we had any other proof of our shared finances, agreements, etc. I took out the copies of our shared bank account, phone plan, and car insurance and handed them to her. We had submitted probably what was more than necessary with our AoS package because every item she asked to see today, we had already submitted with our AoS package. We were definitely overprepared with 2-3 folders of original documents and copies, and about 100 pictures but it is better to be overprepared than under.

All in all, we were in and out in about 15 minutes and she told us to expect the card in the mail in 1-2 months, as they cannot guarantee the speed of the USPS delivery. I'm just hoping it's sooner than that because we have a trip planned for Christmas.

Please let me know if anyone has any questions about our experience. All the best to the ones interviewing soon and waiting. :)

Hi everyone !

I just came out after a long ordeal and ....got a stamp on my passport ! Green card in the mail soon.

We arrived right before 10 am (thank you Manhattan traffic ) and had to go to different rooms to get to the final room.We barely waited 5 minutes before being called by the officer.

He asked us  the same questions again and again ( to see if we would fail) : birthdays, parents names, who is who in family pictures, wedding day etc... . Also asked for our joint documents and he told us he would like to see more proof since  I would be getting a 10 year green card. Then he checked my new medical exam. Then we restarted back and forth lasted for a while ( how did you meet again, when did you fall in love, when did you start dating etc..) .He was going to ask for more evidence again when my husband asked him about the trip I'm taking tomorrow back home to Paris with my mother-in-law.Officer asked for the flights info and then why I was traveling with my mother in law.He then declared he would approve us since we had been a couple for almost a decade and that was the ultimate proof. He then went above and beyond, rushing our case so I could get a stamp. We had to wait another hour for that to be done and VOILA, passport is stamped !! All in all, It took us a good 2 hours. But all set for the next 10 years !

Thank you for all your help here on Visajourney ! And good luck to all those still waiting for their interview.
