The scariest thing for me about MN is that Sausa has been scheduled for interview since January and it still does not have an interview date yet

The Scheduled for interview status is one of the most misleading status updates which gets people excited.

It it just means NBC processed the case and forwarded to local office. Our problem is with backlogging of our local office, so NBC can process a case all it wants it does not matter in practical terms if the local office is just inching along.

I think minnesota is offically the slowest in the country now. Slower than Houston, NYC, etc

hopefully this move to new office in downtown also means adding on a few new officers. Wishful thinking I guess ! But heck what else can we do 😂

Misleading for backlogged offices like MN

Exciting for most field offices as that means you should have your interview sooner than later.

Hopefully processing times for offices like MN wont be the new norm

Being in line to be interviewed for 5 months plus and you are not even sure when that will be is the most misleading if anything

The waiting doesn't get any easier, the stats suggest it is getting worse, But HOPE is all we can hang on to, I guess

What matters for other offices is immaterial. Frame of reference is important. Fact remains, "ready for interview" per say doesn't mean #######, because ball goes in the other field office' court. that's all.

Keys to not getting frustrated are the following 1. Realizing there are others like you in your jurisdiction and you are not an exception per say.

2. Dont be sarcastic and do not become caustic (I get a hint of both from your tone)

3. Don't over analyze, be alert

4. So carry on patiently sticking to the best option at hand

cheers

Hey everyone!

I finally received my green card yesterday (40 days after the interview).

Just for folks who might make the same mistake as me: DO NOT CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS WITH USPS UNTIL YOU HAVE YOUR GREEN CARD IN HAND. EVEN AFTER IT HAS BEEN SHIPPED OR DELIVERED!

Something very funny happened, I was out of town, and my green card got delivered on June 1st. I'm moving to a new city on June 15th, so I went ahead and filed out a change of address with USPS, thinking that I'll go back and grab my green card and then move. And... THE MAILMAN TOOK THE GREEN CARD OUT OF MY MAILBOX lol!! he took it after 4 days back to the local office, they checked and saw that I have filed a change of address, and forwarded it to my new address. I knew the post office should not forward immigration documents, but I was lucky and they did. For I had someone at the new address, and even though the tracking system did not update after getting forwarded, and I was worried sick about the package, the card got delivered at the new address...

So yeah, that's my story:) see you all in less than two years lol

AOS:

01-05-2017 - NOA1 received

05-03-2017 - Verbally approved in interview

05-26-2017 - Card was mailed

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know had my interview on 8th June.

We got approved!

The interview went really well until the end when the lady said she had to run additional background checks and we would hear back in 30-90 days.

Our hearts sank, worry, panic, couldnt figure out what was going on.

Then 2 hours later I checked my online status and status had changed to approved.

We were so scared and really still don't know what the lady meant so seeing the status updated was incredible!

Got the approval notice in the mail a couple days ago. Now waiting for card to be mailed.

Thanks.

Also got greencard in the mail 6 days after interview.

We took with us copies of all the original forms, copies of the medical exam, tax return, ID documents, and extra stuff that was on the interview notice list such as bank statements, apartment lease and photos. There is a list of documents on the interview notice.

The officer didn't ask us much, she didn't ask for any of the other evidence apart from our original birth certificates, IDs, and marriage documents . She just asked us to confirm that the information she had was correct (names, divorces, etc), for us to confirm each others full names and d.o.b.s, and how we met (online), our first meeting in person, why I chose to stay after coming here on a visa waiver, and if I had met his kids and if he had met my parents. Then she read out the list of questions on the I485 and I answered.

It went well. Still not sure what the additional background check and waiting 30-90 days thing was about, we thought maybe she had to get someone to approve it or she had to run my background check again as she seemed confused thay I was previously married despite it being in the paperwork. But approved 2 hours later. Not sure if that is normal.

I spoke to a lawyer about what could happen at the interview. He said one of two people could interview me, namely a field supervisor or a field officer. Field officers cannot approve you in the system without the say so from the supervisor. Often they would say something along the lines that you mention then defer the case to the supervisor along with a recommendation. The supervisor would then act upon the case.

If this is all true, then maybe this is what happened to your good self. Congratulations. My interview is tomorrow.
