I didn't send them in my initial package and I didn't know I was supposed to have them either (but someone in one of  the discussions here on VJ said they had received an RFE for I-20.) I was lucky that I brought all my documents to the interview. She told me I was supposed to have copies and was kinda annoyed that I only had originals. She took copies of all my I-20s and transcripts. So this just might be another 'we never know' moments where every IO has a different system.

One does have to send all I-20's which I did with the initial package when you are filing for AOS from F1, also copy of OPT if one completed the degre, that is basically to prove that you were never out of status.  You never sent them your I-20's either in original package ?

I was curious about the degree certificate and transcript requirement. That is not heard of

You have to send a copy of your F-1 visa which has your SEVIS number under "annotation". They can check your SEVIS status anytime they want and hence negates the requirement of sending I-20's and transcripts. SEVIS is under the DHS Portal which they use. Would be recommended to take the copies of I-20's with you for the interview.

April 26 2017: Package sent to USCIS Chicago Lockbox
April 27 2017: Package received by USCIS
May 8 2017: NOA1 Received by Emails and Texts
May 9 2017: Checks Cashed by USCIS
May 12 2017: All 4 NOA1's received by Mail.

May 19 2017: Biometrics Letter Received, Appointment on June 2

The more people you talk to more versions of the requirements come forth, I-20 is pretty common to be sent with the concurrent filing package.

All I-20's for interview, yes, but the question was of degree diploma certificate and transcripts. Considering we have to bring forth a pound of documents I guess 2 extra papers won't add to the burden  😉

The present situation reminds me of a dialogue from the movie 300 "This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this"  funny yet unfortunately true

Welcome to the " slow club". I don't even bother with looking for an interview letter in the mail yet. I'm sure I got about another 4-5 months of waiting.

Hang in there, we shall see the light soon !

I hope it won't take that long. I've noticed some people get interviews way before the processing time on the website.

Well, I guess we can only wait and see. I had a friend who finished the whole process in 5 months not long ago and that was in NYC.It does happen. At least, we have work permits , you can pretty much do a lot with those.

That's right!! The work permit and SSN allow us to do pretty much everything so the wait isn't so bad now
