Haven't updated my timeline yet, but just wanted to quickly say that our case has seen some progress this month! On April 1st, we finally received the RFIE that we'd been waiting for since Jan. 10th (sent, finally, in response to an online SR regarding the EAD actually). It was a relief to get that piece of paper, and frustrating at the same time that the 3 things they were asking for were items we knew we sent originally...but we were able to move forward! Sent necessary docs on April 3rd, officially received by the office on April 6th, and today we got news that my husband's EAD card is being produced!

 

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and well wishes, as with 90% of things USCIS-involved patience seems to be the biggest thing. Slowly getting toward the finish line. Here's hoping everyone else's cases are moving along well!

I tried to be added on to my spouses plan when we got married in June. But they told me I needed to have a Social Security number which I did not have at the time. Now that I am eligible for one,I called them again to make sure that I could be added on but they told me that since it's been more than 60 days since the marriage they cannot add me on to his plan. What can I do ? is immigration a qualifying life event?

Medical plan I suppose?

I would tell them being issued a new SSN is a life changing event since they had insisted on it before you being added tpo the plan. Don't relent, ask to speak with a supervisor or manager if they refuse and emphasize on the initial refusal based on no SSN. You do have a legitimate case.

Best of luck. Does it mean you have been uninsured since you moved here? that's lame excuse to turn down coverage on their part.

Mind you, they might try to retroactively enroll you, i.e claim your coverage start last June or January 1 for current annual coverage. You should refuse that, if not,your husband will be liable for the premium for all that period too.

No I've been covered under my student plan and still are undefinitely. So no issue but I wanted to go on his plan since we are married but then you know the rest of the story

Gotcha, makes sense, those student plans are expensive, at least a grand per semester before Obamacare came to be.. wonder how much they go for these days?

Mine isn't expensive at all but I buy it from my home country. It's a ppo plan. I pay $400 for 9 months.

Congrats!! Still waiting on mine- we both got our approval on the same day-ha!

Got an update around 1 30 ET that the card was mailed to me ! Ahh can't wait. 

 

I checked my usps and it doesn't show any packages coming up. How can i get a tracking number??

Woo hoo.. Congrats. Give it some more time it might show up on MYUSPS app else you can speak to a tier 2 agent and they can provide you the tracking number..
