I applied for mine on a Thursday,  and got the card in the mail the next Friday. (8 days wait for me). 

 

They will advice you that it should arrive in 2 weeks time.

My husband's kid was wondering if I would get the actual number on the day, as she got her number before the card came (she's usc but 22 and only just applied), but I'm guessing it's maybe different for immigrants.

Lol maybe different for us, but it never hurts to try. I did try and the lady said "unfortunately I would have to wait until the card arrives." 

 

But maybe you'd have the better luck, so give it a shot.

If she was born a citizen. She probably had one at birth or definitely way before she stepped into the ssa office. Which is why they could provide her with the ssn #

@Megha13 I guess make sure you have all you need ( double check the gonorrhea test , ppl have been getting past interview Rfe ) . Make sure you remember each other's info well ( like I usually forget our wedding date 😡). All my friends said it was just basic questions, nothing you wouldn't know about your spouse !

My i485 is still on 'RFE received on Feb 8th' so the timeline is unpredictable. No progress in the past two months with my application. It all depends on how quickly they process the RFE, how quickly they send your file to your field office, how long the line at your field office is,... too many factors in play.

So i am more traditional. i went to her office and met with the case worker . Explained my situation and told them that i needed their help. then i asked lots of questions about uscis because they know stuff. and then asked them how long it'll take to know. he told me a week or so to get a reply from uscis. then they sent me a release form, i signed it and sent copies of my reciepts. they then contacted uscis
