US companies need to off shore in order to compete in global markets, yes. US labor is more expensive than most any other labor in the world.

Except Canada, Europe, Australia. Labor costs aren't that high. Also, the cost of labor typically only adds 1 to 7 ℅ of the costs of goods. Mostly the decision to offshore has more to do with taxes, insurance, land prices, etc.

It's fun seeing the arguments put forward and the counter arguments too in all of this. The proof of any if this will be later down the road and not immediately (unless you are a Carrier employee).

Conventional policies are out of the window, this is a one man show and how he loves to be prime time! The unfortunate thing is this experiment is being played out with the nations wealth and health at stakes.

He's a high roller and understands the gambling %'s as he's owned casinos so be prepared when he rolls the dice.

One thing is for sure the house never loses and in this case the same will be said for the White House in the fullness of time. He will profit one way or another.

Fortunately being president of the US isn't a one man show. He will be held in check, even by members of his own party.

Of course there are other factors that go into the decisions, I don't think anyone is saying otherwise. But to deny labor costs are a considerable part of the decision would be just as naive. Ivanka Trumps clothing line reportedly generates $100 million annually. 7% of 100 million is $7 million per year, that's a lot of coffee money.

You can talk all you want about checks and balances. Right now it's a new era of politics going on, whether it returns to established roots in 4 years who knows. The fight will go on internally in the Republican Party as to which of Dons demands, whimsical musings (new name for policies) they are willing to back.

Honeymoon phase right now and even then there are already grumblings. Wait until they hit an issue where him and Ryan are at loggerheads... this mans ego will get in the way of what's good for America so expect fireworks ?.

You mean the established roots of the constitution? I wasn't aware that had changed along with The Donald being elected. What is he going to be able to do that any other president hasn't in regards to making policy law?

Hold his party to ransom that's what... they would not be in the position they are now had it not been for the great orange ones' campaign. He holds leverage. Right now he might be playing nicely... healing the party etc.

One thing I can tell you about this demigod is he will want to have in place something that is long lasting after he leaves, just like Obama and ACÁ every president would like to leave a lasting legacy and Trump is yet to reveal his that I can tell you.

Then wait and see who wins out if it doesn't meet with conventional GOP values. They are throwing many of those out of the window right now just to get on his band wagon.

Talking of the constitution, I don't think Don has much time for that since he believes freedom of speech isn't all that important when it comes to the media or protesters.

using 'new' and 'good' interchangeably seems to be the hip thing to do.

There is nothing wrong with shaking up the establishment that I grant you but you don't do it by driving plastic car (made in China) into the sun either.

New is not always better (just ask Samsung and its notebook)

I agree, and this is why CEO pay should be cut or heavily taxed. The insensitive to cut back on labor costs is just too great to resist, when someone is trying justify themselves remaining on as CEO to shareholders.

I've long wondered, "If the CEO were to forgo his scheduled $X,000,000 pay raise this year, how many worker-bee jobs could be saved or added for that total amount?"

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
