I have two guesses...

1. I remember reading on one of the other threads (nov 2016 filer?) that someone had a visit to their home from USCIS and was told they were approved by the officers who paid their home a visit. So maybe, in these times of increased scrutiny, CSC is sending the applications to local offices to send people out to confirm the application details or collect more information.

2. They are trying to make a dent in the back log by sending out some applications to local offices.

Quite possibly number 2, but reading through the other thread, it sounds like those filing in Mid-2017 are also seeing the same message, so not sure what it might be.  Another possibility is that there will be more I751 interviews based on whatever new policy that may have been created.

Doesn't really matter for my wife as she filed the N400 which seems to be moving at a 6 month pace right now, so hopefully all will be done by August this year and we will be done with USCIS.

*Possibly* good news

All, I've been following this thread (and the sep, oct, nov 2016 filers thread) over the last few months, but haven't contributed until now.  While reading through one of the other threads, I noticed someone mention checking their case status with the other WAC number.

As for most other people, my WAC number from the CR189 has shown the "received your case / fees were waived" message for a long time now. The WAC number from the I751 used to give me an error message. Today, it gave me a "we received your I751 petition at your local office" message.

I'm guessing with the long backlog at CSC, they forwarded my application to the local office. I figure this is good news, as I wasn't getting anywhere with CSC.

Some back ground, I applied for the I751 in dec 2016. Did not apply for N400 / citizenship. and the CR189 message shows Dec 19th 2016 as my case received date on the USCIS website. So hopefully that provided a reference timeline.

Did anyone else on the dec 2016 filers thread get a similar message?

I just checked online and I have the same message about my file being transferred to my local office with the WAC number that came on my I797 letter, the one that normally gives the error message. The other WAC number still just acknowledges receipt of my application. My receipt date is Dec 12 2016

Ditto, same message here On February 26, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WACXXXX, at your local office

Guys, I am quite in panic, please drop some knowledge on this topic!

I went to Infopass in December 2017 at Los Angles office in Downtown. I wanted to get my passport stamped and some ask other questions related to my case.

Well..

The Officer took my documents and I got one year extension, newly designed stamp with my case info written on by hand.

But when he came back he gave me my passport and printed copy of my Green Card - no original GC!

I asked him why, what if I need it? He told me it is a new rules, if I need another year extension I will have to come back again, but because of this NEW RULES - all applicants are getting this stamp and GC stays in the office. He said I still can travel with those stamp in passport.

I said that I am not sure and I want to have my card - he refused to return.

I was surprised but I was the last one in the waiting room, they were closing and I thought - I don't feel right about that but what can I do, this is authorized person.

And I left!

Now when I am about to change my job I am thinking what do I do without my GC?  Everyone knows about the importance of having it - how do I verify my employment eligibility with those stamp only?

Please, anyone, tell that they had the same experience - I start to panic and I feel ((stupid)) I had to be more persistent.

Thank you, community!

This is common practice. Nothing to worry about. The i-551 stamp is the same as a green card.

Great! I'm glad to know Im not a one off case. Now hopefully the chicago office is not in too much of a backlog and will do something with my (and others) applications....

I am not sure I trust this...as each of the people above all show the same message with today's date?  I had only listed one of the WAC numbers on my record; added the second today and voila - same message with today's date.  If it is true, bonus, but given the other message about fees waived is a glitch, I'm less than confident.

Not everyone has the same date, someone had theirs transferred the 24th and this morning they awoke to an approval status, so it's looking like we may be in for some luck finally, I'm trying not to get my hopes up
