just FYI (idk if you care) filing N400 will delay your i-751 adjudication by another year or so. Read the July/August thread. Lots of people have done it and once you file N400 you are in a different queue and you may or may not get your 10 year gc. not sure if you care though.

Anyone have any actual information on this, as I have read the exact opposite (that filing the N400 can bump up your i-751).  I'm eligible to file N400 now, but have been caught up in other things...of course, not sure if it matters to me if the i-751 delays as long as it doesn't affect my ability to travel.

Yes, filing N400 while I-751 is pending normally would force the I-751 to be adjudicated, however; with this crazy backlog it’s a little different. If you do that your I-751 adjudication will likely be deferred and merged with your N400, so you’ll have a combined N-400/I-751 interview. The interview time for your N400 isn’t set on stone and will depend on your field office local USCIS processing timeframe. This isn’t a bad thing though if becoming a citizen is your ultimate goal. It will take 3 months off the waiting time for your N 400 adjudication by filing early rather that waiting a couple of extra months to receive your 10 year green card before filing N 400 and then handing the green card back again to USCIS after a couple of months when you naturalize. The only set back is you won’t probably receive your 10 year green card and will need a 1 year I-551 stamp on your passport to use for employment or travel until you have you N 400 interview and subsequent naturalization. This is what has been happening to many pending I-751/N-400 filers.

Can't see any of us not needing the i-551 stamp at this rate anyway, lol.  My local office is currently doing Nov 2016 N-400 so yeah, that would delay my GC a few months...but depending on whether there are changes coming for the number of interviews, etc. we're all in the middle of a wait anyway.  Thanks.  Haven't had an interview yet (other than the 5 minutes for my K1)

Yea, we’ll all be most likely getting I-551 stamps anyway looking at the trend for CSC. It would be wise then for you to do it since your field office takes about 12 months for N 400. My field office in Seattle takes 8-9 months at the moment. I-751 is still pending but I’ll definitely apply for N 400 when my window opens up on December 4th. I personally don’t mind not receiving that 10 year green card though some take issue with it as they feel rippped off after paying those hundreds of dollars for it. USCIS on the other hand is trying to be smart and not waste their resources by producing a card that will be almost immediately handed back to them.

The USCIS agent at our InfoPass appointment on 10/25/17 told us that's why it's taking so long for the I-751 to be approved. Our interviews have always been waived before, which is why we were so surprised. She may have been mistaken but that's what USCIS told us.

I think IO might be talking about this:

https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-to-expand-in-person-interview-requirements-for-certain-permanent-residency-applicants

Also this:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/amp/dhs-require-interviews-more-100-000-visa-holders-n796126

I saw several articles about new policy for in person interview when you switch from work visa to green card ( interview was not needed for that type before)

however, I haven't found any info about I 751 now require in person interviews for all. But this for sure affects everyone as it would backlog offices and service centers even more.

Well I guess that all depends on how their work processes are divided.  If all agents do all types of applications, then it would affect i-751 but if they have teams that specialize in certain applications (i.e. Team A does K1, Team B does student visas, Team C does AOS, Team D does only i-751) it wouldn't matter.  Having previously worked for the government agency (in Canada albeit) that does nothing but process applications (equivalent to the Social Security benefits), I've seen offices structured in both ways (teams dedicated to specific types of application and teams that do cross sections, even teams that specialize in nationalities or illnesses.  Usually they always include a blitz team that focuses on wherever the backlog is greatest though). <shrug>  who knows

Yes, let's hope for a better! I just wanted to highlight there is no information to confirm i751 require in person interviews for all ( at least I haven't found any). I also hope that based on last update, Cali service center is actually started to move faster.

It's been 5 months since I sent my I-751 application. No update from my end.

Any update from anyone else who filed I-751 with CSC in Dec 2016?

If USCIS sends at least an RFE to any of the Dec 2016 filers, it will give an indication that they have started looking into our I-751 applications. I am eagerly watching this thread to see an update from Dec 2016 filers.

I am Dec Filers too.. I filed mine last Dec 2, then I recieved my Biometric Appointment two weeks after and then recieved my NOA Three weeks after my Biometric. It’s been a year now, and still don’t have my actual 10 year GC. What’s the update on yours?

Thanks!

Yes, i am actually out of the country right now and will be traveling back with expired GC and letter that was issued more than year ago, but a month before GC extension expiration. Some of my friends have traveled couple times back and forth with exp GC and letter, was no problem.
