I agree! I am trying not to think about it but then again 1 year from my card expiry date is Feb 24th 2018. That date seems so close to me.

Anyone knows what happens after it expires and they haven't gotten back to us?

Mine expires just after yours in March 2018, nothing happens, although if you intend to travel after the letter expires you'll need to get a stamp in your passport beforehand. Remember if it hasn't come by the anniversary of your green card expiry we're actually allowed to apply for Citizenship even if ROC hasn't been approved, it forces them into looking at your case.... but let's HOPE it comes well before then

Ohhh snap! Didn't know that! I was going to wait until after I got my 10 year to apply for Citizenship, but now ill do just that, I would have been married well over 3 years.

But I agree I really hope we all get ours before our extension expires! Then we can breathe a little easier. :)

I was thinking of waiting too but if it turns out that we're still stuck waiting by the time the anniversary rolls around it seems sensible just to force them into it by filing for citizenship. Not ideal but at least it'll get their asses into gear!

Hi everyone,

I'm from the January 2017 filers group and I just got a letter in my mail today for the i-751 interview. Doesn't provide much information just gives a date and time for the interview and asks me to bring along my spouse, my conditional green card, the letter, ID, proof of bonafide marriage and 2 passport size photographs. Anyone else gotten the same letter??

Wow that's interesting your application is even less than 7months and you get a notice to come for interview.  Get yourself prepared if you and your spouse are able to proof beyond reasonable doubt that your marriage is real I m sure you are getting your approval.  Good luck to you and pls dont forget to update us as it goes. What is your service center?

Agreed! My window opens on 9/8/2017 and I'll be filing a month after I'm 10/8/2017, just because I wasn't sure if I could have filed with the I751s in process.

@Starkilla09 you made sure this is ok to do? And also, it's 3 years being Married overall, not 3 years from receipt of conditional green card right?

Yes you can file your N 400 even with a pending I-751 once your window to file opens up. What normally happens is that it forces the I-751 to be adjudicated as this has to be adjudicated before the N 400 can be approved. If the I-751 isn't adjudicated by the time your N 400 interview comes up, you'll have a combined I-751 and N 400 interview. It's a seemingly easy process with nothing to lose sleep about. Now with that being said, your N 400 eligibility window opens up 90 days prior the the 3rd anniversary of being a permanent resident as shown on your conditional resident card by the "resident since" date. My 2 year resident card has a "resident since" date of 03/04/15 so my window opens 12/04/17. It's not by your marriage anniversary. By the time you're interviewed for naturalization, you would've met the other requirements by being married for 3 years and also being a permanent resident for 3 years as well.

That's some great information! Well I guess my window starts a little later for me then. My anniversary as a resident is 2/24/2018. So I guess December I'll be able to put in the application for the N-400.

Thanks so much for the information! Will be put to great use.

@Starkilla09 already mentioned it, but I will echo their comment.  It is not your 3 year wedding anniversary, but rather your 3 year GC anniversary.  It is my understanding that to file under the 3 year rule, you have to have a marriage based GC for 3 years and still be married to the same person for the entire time.  I believe if a divorce occurs, the LPR would move to the 5 year rule.
