Just wanted to give an update - my wife received a Form I797 Notice of Action in the mail dated 5/21/18 that said her application and payment was received.  This was not very specific and kind of confusing because it didn't provide any update on status or approval.  Then yesterday (5/29) her case status was changed online to New Card Is Being Produced.  Finally seems like the end is in sight.

Also it's disgraceful and embarrassing that this application review and approval process would take this long (18 months) and reflects poorly on our country.  I can't believe anyone would defend it.

As a Canadian, this is the sentiment I get from my American friends, while the country is still full of opportunities, lot of things need work and fast.

Many things from laws to systems to infrastructure are outdated and need work.

I see people defending USCIS here all the time and obviously as someone going through immigration I understand why, they want to be thankful (amazing) but at a certain point it becomes bending over rather than being thankful (Not what America wants from its citizens and future ones)

Another big thing is, many immigrants come from countries where constructively criticizing the gov is a foreign concept and sometimes down right dangerous, so they live in a state of paranoia, while themselves are angry at the RIDICULOUS wait time, they have this fear that USCIS is just watching these forums and punishing criticizers.

Anyway, congrats to your spouse. Enjoy each other extra this weekend 😉

Hi everyone

I have been going through the posts to see whether December filers are being approved. Our filing date is Dec 16 2016, biometric was in Feb 2017. I have a basic question, there are two receipt numbers on the Form I-797C. Both bring up status on the USCIS case status.

First one says, the petition has been received at local office. I created an account in USCIS website and then I saw in the case history that "We received you case, will begin processing etc." Then it says "if you do not receive your notice by March 28th, send us a case inquiry". I didn't receive any notice. Any idea what this notice is? I will call and find out, but just wanted to know if others have seen similar status.

Second receipt number just talks about receipt notice that we got before biometric appointment.

Thank you and Good Luck

I think what you are describing is the system "glitch" in February where everyone suddenly got a notice saying their case was at their local office if they checked the WAC number on their I-797 (the notice of action stating they received your I-751 and granting the one year extension). I think it coincided with system wide USCIS computer systems update. Quite a few people who called USCIS at that time reported that they were told it was a glitch and their application had not been transferred to a local office.

The number on the extension letter says that and yes, there was a known glitch. Check the other number that is referencing CRI-89 application.

Hi everyone!  My husband is a December 2016 filer.  In fact, his case was received on December 6, 2016.  I am so happy to see that Dec 2016 filers are finally being approved, so congrats to everyone!  However, I am seeing filers before our date approved and filers after our date approved.  Is anyone else in the same situation?  It seems like the order of things is totally random.   Oh, and one more question.  How are people receiving emails about changes in their status?  Is there some way to sign up for it?  We have a USCIS account... are the emails automatic?

Standard answer received after putting an online update request. VSC NOA Dec 16.

On May 30, 2018, you or your representative contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) about your I-751 because you believe your case is outside normal processing times.
Your case is currently delayed because the required security checks are still pending. We cannot make a decision on your case until we receive the results of these security checks.
In the meantime, we have tools to help you at www.uscis.gov/tools and my.uscis.gov, including:
Sign up for automatic case updates in myUSCIS: my.uscis.gov/account
Ask our virtual assistant Emma: www.uscis.gov/emma
Check your case status: www.uscis.gov/casestatus
Check processing times: www.uscis.gov/processingtimes
Address Changes: If you move, please visit www.uscis.gov/addresschange for information on how to update your address. Remember to update your address for all your receipt numbers.
If you try our online tools and still need help, please call USCIS customer service at 800-375-5283 or 800-767-1833 (TDD for the hearing impaired).
Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate your continued patience.

Ok...so there are two USCIS websites

https://egov.uscis.gov/

and here

https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

where you can create accounts, and sign up for text and email notifications. Check that you have the email notifications set up. From my own personal experience, the DHS account is emailing me more reliably than the other one. Even though I have always had email and text notifications enabled on the former, I have never had one!

And I think we are all in that situation, so don't worry too much. Mine was received on 7th and there are some after us who have been approved, but some before us still waiting!

Adjustment of status

10/03/14- Package (!-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 concurrent filing sent to Chicago Lockbox (Day 00)

10/06/14-Package delivered and signed for (Day 3)

10/13/14-Acceptance confirmation text messages/emails received (Day 10)

10/18/14-Paper notifications received in the mail (Day 15)

10/24/14-Biometrics appt letter received- 5th Nov (Day 21)

Thank you so much for this answer!  I didn't realize there were so many sites to check status.  Well, I guess at this point, we can just hang in there since things at least seem to be advancing!

Trust me, I didn't either til this month! Just personal opinion, but I actually like the dhs one a lot better in terms of user friendliness as well.

Oh I see. I called USCIS and they said no notice was sent. But they did transfer my case to local office according to the representative, although the dates do not match. Anyway, hopefully Dec cases are processed quickly.
