Wow, this is the first time I read about this! My interview is this coming Friday, and I was hoping for an oath ceremony in January - looks like I might have to wait longer (I'm a May IOE filer).

Hello Vanee:

Please let us know how your oath ceremony go after Dec 16.

I hope everything will go as planned.

Best wishes!

I'm in a similar situation. I have an IOE case number, I was approved at my Nov. 8 interview, and my oath ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 16. The oath ceremony notice was dated Nov. 28.

Ooh. I hope I don't get a letter like that, but it sounds like I probably will.

Because of personal preferences (let's not get into a political discussion), I really want to become a US citizen while Obama is still president. I hope that can still happen.

Thanks. I haven't received a cancellation notice, and it's 3 days away now, so I'm hopeful it's still happening. Maybe they had time to do name checks on people already scheduled for their oath ceremony.

The second oath is 2 month away from your original scheduled. Do you mind tell us where is your field office?

thanks!

my field office is Jacksonville, FL but the federal court where the oath is being held is Gainesville, FL. I did request that the oath be held after Jan 1st since we're out of the country for the holidays. That may be the next available date if the date in January was full. It seems at my location they schedule one oath ceremony a month.

My oath ceremony took place as scheduled. 92 people were on the list to be there. 89 came. The roads were icy, which might explain why 3 people didn't make it.

As I mentioned in another post, this naturalization ceremony was the last one in Kalamazoo, Michigan until March because of the winter weather here. Weather might be a factor in scheduling ceremonies in some other locations too.

Err.. What did the FBI ask you? Maybe there's an issue with your background check or it's related to something else. The FBI does conduct background checks on behalf of USCIS but they typically don't reach out to the applicants.

I'm going out on a limb but you may have bigger issues to deal with than just a delayed interview.

Good luck and report back.

does this affect application that was submitted back in July? there are 2 people who applied for citizenship in our household. one was submitted like around april or may and he had his oath taking last August. the 2nd application for my mom-in-law was submitted July 2016 and until now we are still waiting for her interview letter. we submitted her application to the Phoenix Lockbox and our field office is Chicago, IL.

Something went wrong with your background check, did USCIS send you any letters saying you are denied? it's strange that nothing happened, they should at least let you know
