You know you will get attacked for that link, right? Brave man. Allow me to help.

So it seems the Obama administration has allowed immigration of people without proper FBI "name checks"? I think we had a discussion about this last year. Doesn't surprise me much.

"The government suspended naturalization ceremonies and banned officers from approving any new applications for citizenship earlier this week after realizing its background check system was broken and ineligible people may have been slipping through, a key congressman revealed Friday.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, whose office was tipped off to the monumental error, said he was stunned by the problem and also by the fact that the administration never bothered to inform him of it."

Without the hyperbole, they found a problem with FBI background checks initiated through ELIS on Nov 28th and suspended approvals of these specific applications immediately until they can identify the cause and correct it. It doesn't say they knowingly approved any or that any of this was allowed to happen by the Obama administration.

So which administration would YOU say is responsible for the oversight? Surely not Carter's?

Obviously it happened under the Obama administration. Someone will be found responsible for the oversight. Allowed to happen suggests someone knew about it and that it was acceptable. That's different from oversight. If that's not what you were implying, I apologize.

I understand where you were headed. It's normal, after the past several years of people blaming Obama personally. As I am sure they will Trump, even though little will actually be his fault alone.

The words that caught my attention were in the quote above. It doesn't say which administration failed to inform him of the oversight; I just assumed they meant the current administration. If he had said Bureau, I wouldn't have alluded to the current administration. (The OP did name the Obama administration)

The good news is that they caught the error. The bad news is some slipped thru before it was discovered. Scary to think they weren't even running simple FBI name checks properly. Let alone extensive background checks.

Fair enough. I think Goodlatte's issue is why wasn't he informed immediately, and he has a point. They did not continue to process applications after the error was found. They will (hopefully) be able to retroactively assess any applications that were approved in error, if there were any.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

But yet Trump's is Racist because he suggested shutting down immigration from populations with terrorist and anti usa citizens, until we can find a way to Vet them.

Liberals just don't have a clue
