Is this some kind of new posting style? I keep seeing it lately.

OP take the advice from yesterday and stop stressing about ur GC details getting used for undesirable motives.

You simply put it up on social media for a short period of time. You have the physical card so keep it safe (on you at all times as required) and carry on with life as you are bringing unnecessary stress onto yourself.

Relax and get ready fir the festive period ?

Thanks for your reassurance! The reason why I put it up on my instagram (I covered my category, expiration date, date of birth and of course the USCIS #) is as a result of my excitement to actually start a life here etc. once I noticed my receipt number in the background, I took it off completely.

Overall, I'm a very cautious guy that tries to avoid getting in trouble for unnecessary reasons. Thanks again for your advice

No.. This ^^^^ is just saying whatever this is above they really like so they are pointing to like this ^^^^^ lol. I do it too sometimes... Its a bit easier then quoting I guess? I also think it makes the page look a bit cleaner then all those boxes when you quote someone... (sorry for being off topic)

Um I guess I should contribute to the thread while Im here though....

JusticeWarrior-

You put it on Instagram! OMG. Youre crazy!! Most people HATE their picture on the card to even consider doing something like that! Your picture mustve been a good one huh?

But I dunno, I mean in a crazy crazy world I suppose someone could find a GC and then fraudulently fill out a i407 and then go overseas and mail it? :reading: Thats all kinds of fraud though. And then when you submit for a replacement card at the same time USCIS is going to see something funky is going on- so I wouldnt worry too much- as screwed up as the gov is- they are actually pretty smart.

It's not that I put it out there like that, I censored everything but my name and my picture (I'm not that crazy) plus when someone fills out a form, they do need information like my A number, date of departure etc which I covered completely before I posted it

But like I said you must be a very nice looking guy to put a traditionally bad picture like the ones on those cards up on social media... your bride is a lucky girl.

Thanks! So basically one who finds a green card can file a form to abandon the residency of the person who lost it?

Oh boy I would totally disagree with this. Your green card is like gold and should not be carried on your person. Neither should you carry your social security card. Keep them at home in a secure place or even in your bank safe deposit box. You don't want to lose either card. You are nopt required to carry your green card with you at all time.

Good luck and God Bless, Aloha, david

In a crazy world someone could find a greencard and fraudulently fill out the form, BUT it has to mailed from outside the US... so they would be doing mail fraud and identity fraud and it would be international crime I guess cause it would involve multiple countries... Its not really something you should worry about though!! Honestly Im sorry I even said it! The chances of it happening are probably .000000000001%

I would disagree according to the USCIS website: https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-green-card-granted
