Hello Everybody ?

Before asking , i would like to say that i'm perfectly aware of that the question has been asked so many times before but I think the country of origin can change the case a little ?

Im from France and i dont know how to proceed ? With my fiancee we plan on having a linked account ? And of course leaving my bank here in France. Im not familiar with all of that , and futthermore i requested an apmointment with my banker but i dont know how helpful they will be.

Look up transferwise. They usually offer much cheaper transfer fees and better currency exchange rates than banks can. Do talk to a financial advisor in France to be aware of any penalties/reporting requirements for large amounts of money being transferred out of the country.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

I kept my Dutch bank account and savings for the first month here and used PayPal to transfer all the money on that account to my husband's account that month. I wasn't feeling the bank fees for doing the same.

According to French Law and Us law, the maximum transfer allow with to fill something to both customs are 10000 $ or Euros (http://www.douane.gouv.fr/articles/a10796-obligation-declarative-des-sommes-titres-et-valeurs). So you should be good. PayPal is for my case one of the best way to do it. French bank have fees as well some US bank when receiving an international transfer.

Just something to consider, it will be good to keep a french bank account, just in case you and your spouse will live in France in the futur. Open a bank account in France is quite a challenge. Without a French address you can open a bank account, without a bank account you can't rent an appartement as well as a phone plan. that's the beauty of France,

I've used transferwise to send money to my us bank account. It's super easy.
