No..they didn't do too bad... considering what Jay Leno or Howard Stern find about random people's knowledge...heck, some people can't even tell you who the vice president is..

But then again, not all Muslims are Arabs, and not all Arabs are Muslim...so that part is a bit disappointing..glad they had fun doing it though..

I agree, I've learned so much since being with Maj. I didn't even know how ignorant I was until I started looking more into things. I didn't even know they didn't speak arabic in Iran until he told me. And here I thought I was well-educated

Geography does not seem to be a required subject in USA.

Iran is not in Arabia, and neither for that matter is Iraq.

Arabs are Semites, as are Jews.

Most Iranians are Caucasian.

Horribly simplistic but good enough I think.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I think she meant that she thought they spoke Arabic in Iran until her husband told her that they *don't* speak Arabic in Iran.

I would say that the majority of people who I've spoken to do not know that Arabic is spoken in Morocco. And then half of the rest don't even know where Morocco is.

I may have told this story before but it merits repeating here- I mailed a letter to thank a family that hosted me while I was in Morocco. The USPS sent the letter to MONACO and eventually it ended up back in my mailbox as undelieverable. I spent the better part of a half hour explaining to the post office that they made the mistake. Monaco is in EUROPE and Morocco is in Africa!

Apparently that's an easy mistake to make.

One time at the DHL office I was sending a package to Morocco, and the guy told me he heard of that place before - they have a lot of casinos there, don't they? It took me a few seconds to figure out what he was thinking of... I was like, casinos? In Morocco?:lol:
