Just called NVC. Really starting to hate them....

The past 2 days I've been told that we are in review and it should be completed anytime.

The lady I just spoke with said that since we've passed the 6 week point she's going to contact her supervisor to review it. She said it could be completed anytime between now and 6 weeks. I told her that I've been told it was already in review. She said technically that's correct - that it is in the review department, but not reviewed yet.

Beyond deflated.

I understand your frustration. Its to the point where it makes me feel sick me and my wife. It makes it worse when you see cases complete when you sent yours in before others. Its like they pick and choose which case they want to review. Its very sad. My scan date was oct 26 supervisor review dec 12th sad.

7 weeks and no updates, what a painful process! We were hoping for an early interview date so that my wife would book a flight and come for the interview. We waited until we gave up. So she had to book a flight anyways for January.

I really wish I found this forum earlier, people here are so supportive and helpful. My wife and daughter might have been here already because I would have known more about the process and to contact NVC more often to move my case forward.

It has been exactly 6 weeks since NVC received my packet from my attorney. Today, I received the following email from my attorney:

"Hope this email finds you well. I contacted NVC this morning and spoke with an officer regarding your petition. Since it has been 6 weeks since they received your documents and the review has not been completed, they placed your petition under supervisory review. Once again there is nothing wrong with your petition this is common practice if the 1st level officers were unable to review your documents in a timely manner. I was instructed by the officer to follow up in one week."

So, our case is officially in supervisor review.

I am happy to see that my attorney is so conscientious in tracking the progress of my case......Hopefully, my supervisor review will be a short one.. :joy:

I just want to add in my experience with the confusion and chaos that is the NVC...

A couple weeks ago, I contacted my senator's office to assist me with a medical expedite request that my doctor recommended I apply for. The case worker sent in all the paperwork and, when I didn't hear a response for a week, I called the NVC to check if they had received our correspondence. When I called, the agent said, "Actually, yes, we received your request, and the consulate in Juarez approved it. However, they will not move forward with your case until your document review is completed here with us. The only difference really is that once we finish with your documents, you will schedule an interview directly with the embassy instead of through us."

I then called the next day because I didn't quite understand what needed to be done or what was happening. The second agent said, "yes, the consulate approved your expedite request, but your documents need to finish processing at the NVC first, which can take up to six weeks. Then you will schedule an interview with them."

Then, today, I get an e-mail from the case worker in the senator's office that states she received a reply from the NVC. That e-mail says:

"This is a follow up to your December 13, 2016 expedite request for the immigrant visa petition filed by Jacklyn ********** on behalf of Erick ******** with assigned case number CDJ*********. Per correspondence from your office, the National Visa Center (NVC) forwarded an expedite request to the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The response from the U.S. Consulate General indicated that they are not willing to accept this case for expeditious processing until it completes processing at the NVC.

After the NVC receives and reviews all the required forms and documents, we will schedule an immigrant visa appointment for Erick ********** and forward his petition to the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez."

I have no idea what this means and why I am getting different information from people. What a joke.

Jacklyn it sounds like the expedited process was approved with the consulate (or will be), but it didn't speed up the NVC process at all...

I must of spoken to the same rude representative woman. She was not happy with me. She at one point asked me told but forgot to put me on hold I heard yell Omg... she had an issue because every time she said something that was different from what I've been already I questioned what she was telling me. Finally she came back to the phone and quickly said it's on the supervisor review and it will take 6 weeks from today's date. I agree with you my scan date was Sept 17th
