I'm at 4 weeks with 2 weeks to go and I got a wild hair and called :idea: Man! those people were so rude :sleepy::sleepy: .. I said to myself well let me leave these people alone.. but in two weeks :clock::clock: I will be calling twice a day...my marriage hanging by the threads because of this distance :cry: ....

We have the same time frame. What is your scan date? We're 11/7. It's so frustrating to wait. I've not seen my husband since April. It's been so long. He talked of coming over at Christmas, but it's so much money and then he'll just have to turn around and come back in a few months. Surely we can hold out a few more months.

I felt the same way in September for our wedding anniversary and my husband's 50th birthday (we married on his 48th birthday). I was very tempted to go, even for just a few days, but we decided we should save the money for when I arrive in case I don't find a job right away. As it happens, I have a job already confirmed for January 3. But I thought 'surely I can wait just another few months'.

It's very difficult. I've been speaking to people at work about moving, etc because tomorrow is my last day in my current job. They have all been saying 'Oh you're so lucky to be going to live in America' but I don't call spending the first 2 years and 3 months of marriage, one visa denial and finally one approval apart as being 'lucky'. I'd rather have had 2 years with my husband.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I completely understand what you mean. "A few more months". That's been our motto the whole time. He couldn't come over during summer because that's his busy time. I'm a teacher, so once school starts I'm covered up until our breaks off. During fall break, we thought about him visiting, but we got approval from USCIS and thought nvc would be much quicker. I feel like we've put our lives on hold for this stupid process. My oldest daughter is very close to my husband and she'll be leaving for college after this school year and is very hurt that's she's missing out on time with him. Plus, he's already 55 and I'm 43. The years are flying past.

I am sorry about that. That is awful. Did you pay him upfront as well?

We chose ours because of the reviews on avvo and her law school she went too. It is so disappointing when you find out -after you paid a ton of money- you made the wrong choice. But who has just spare money laying around for all the initial consultation fee's that are wanted by all good lawyers? I mean there is some out there without consultation fee's but it only covers the bases. She consulted us an hour and that just made a good first impression, walking us through every step.

Did you talk to your spouse about that? As one of the posters said before, we can chose to fire our attorney at any time. Any money that was not earned has to be refunded at least thats what it says in my engagement agreement.

I'd be furious if I had paid a lawyer and got a checklist for something missing or incomplete. It's quite possible that you missed a question on the form or forgot a document but you don't do this for a living. You're paying a lawyer for everything to be double and triple checked and for everything to be tip-top.

It's like paying someone to cut your hair and they only cut one side of your head! If I did the same quality of work for my employer that I'm hearing about with the lawyers on here, I'd probably not be working here anymore.

We didn't pay up front. We've been paying in instalments which are all paid off now. He was super friendly to begin with but any random queries I have, now the process is well underway, he's been very weird and short tempered with me. I really don't understand why. He seems to get particularly angry when I do my own research and then ask him about my findings. I really dunno if we can get our money back, I dunno if his rudeness is grounds for that. I'm also not sure if it's possible to prove it's his fault we've got a checklist either (not sure what's it says yet), and he actually pretty much predicted we would <_<, he had told me a while ago that it's really common to get one and you have to be pretty lucky not to... I dunno if that's true, but we've really not had any lucky streaks at any point of the process yet... :bonk:

oh wow that's horrible. I had the same thing happen, but ended up firing my lawyer right when we got our first RFE in the USCIS stage. You only get a limfed time to respond back to an RFE and he didn't even bother contacting me to discuss how to respond. He was even less helpful in the beginning, so at that point I decided not to waste anymore money and do everything on my own. Scan date is 11/26. Hoping to get a CC sometime in January!! Good luck to us All!

Last day of the week... called and still nothing.

This is now exactly 2 weeks into supervisor review from 25th November and just over 8 weeks at nvc since scan date on October 12th.

I feel like they're giving me false hope; "we have to give the time frame as 6 weeks but it may be done any day now mam, you're welcome to call at any time but we will email you when it's complete also" - maybe they're subliminally telling me it's currently under review? Wishful thinking at this point.

Every time I call they tell me something different. First that the supervisor has my case. Then that someone is looking at my case while we spoke. Then that my case was still with the supervisor nut had not been reviewed yet. Then that the supervisor has forwarded my case to the review department. And now that my case has not been reviewed....again. I will be 2 weeks on supervisor review next Tuesday. If I don't have a response by hten I will try to talk to a supervisor or get my congressman involved. This is too much waiting for a service we see paying for.

Agreed jrigual, I think they're likely reading a script but trying to be nice about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen anyone go much longer than 2 weeks or so supervisor review recently, which worries me.

I'll have to speak to my husband about a congressman getting involved but im terrified it could hold it up more by going to a different department or something. I'm getting more anxiety by the hour

That does not give me much hope.... However we've gone this far, it CANNOT be much longer. I've heard that they split the cases into regions but all November/December cases seem to be taking much longer than September/October's.

Every day that goes past we are one day closer to our loved ones though. We now just hope for a CC rather than a CL.
