Not sure what to answer on N400 form

Hi, guys. I went through almost every topic listed here, looks like almost all of you are applying based on marriage. I'm applying based on 5 years and will soon send my N-400.

A little advice for people completing the form on a macbook.

As others have stated, you need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader, otherwise Preview won't let you complete some fields and won't let you change stuff after you save.

Now, I have a couple questions:

1. At the beginning it asks to type "N/A" if an item is not applicable but you can't type the forward slash "/" in most cases.

For example Part 2. 3. If your answer is none you can't type "/" or Part 2. 6. If you don't have a USCIS account number you can't write "/".

Is it ok if I just leave them blank?

2. I moved to a new state 4 months ago. I immediately applied for a Drivers License in the new state, changed my address with USCIS, notified my banks , etc. What's the best proof to bring to the interview to show that I've been in the new state for 4 months?

3. My new Driver's License shows the date I got it in the new state but I actually need to update the address since I moved to a different apartment since then. I thought I would use the Driver's license to show that I got it 4 months ago but now I need to update the address, any chance I can keep the old one?

4. Part 8. Information about your Employment.

I've been unemployed for a couple months, there are 3 spaces to write about your Employment. In the first space should I write Unemployed and write down the address and the dates, and in space number 2 write down my last employment?

5. Part 12. 23. Have you ever been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including immigration official) for any reason?

I traveled to Europe with a reentry permit and every time I would come back the CBP would send me to a secondary screening, they would apologize and let me go after checking something on their computer ( 5 minutes tops). Is this considered detained?

6. Any examples for the Cover letter?

Thank you!

List all employment in the required period. If not enough space, attach an additional sheet and identify it with question number.

For detained question, I wouldn't consider secondary at POE detained but you can list it and explain on additional sheet.

For residence time - dl should work and so should your lease and pay stubs with new address.

There are a lot of us here applying under 5 year rule too :)

Secondary screening is not a detention and you don't need to include it. Pretty much all who traveled on a reentry permit/advance parole have to go through the secondary screening, it's normal procedure.

And, finally, you don't need a cover letter. Just include the application and all other required documents. N400 is the most straightforward of all immigration procedures, don't overthink it...

Problem is I don't have anything for the old address, it was my friends house and I stayed there for a month until I got situated and found a place for myself. I changed my address with my bank, USCIS, and I surrendered my last state DL and got a new one but other than that I have nothing else for the old address (utility Bills, lease, etc.).

Should I keep the old ID? Can I just cut it in half but still show it to the IO if he will have doubts about my 3 month residence?

When I will submit my N-400 I will have less than 3 months at my new apartment but over 4 months in the new state.

Thanks for your advice!
