I don't know why people don't file a CR1 instead of a K1 so they can immediately work if they are not willing to wait out the EAD

process.
You can expedite the EAD with a written job offer. Make a service request to expedite if you have a job offer, you can

hunt around for a job (hopefully you have a decent resume already made) you just can't work yet.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Sept. 21 Interview, 2 hour interview, we were separated and asked about 50 questions each for an hour each. IO was firm but professional, some smiles.
Several service requests made, contacted Senator and Ombudsman. Background checks still pending.
July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

You can expedite the EAD with a written job offer. Make a service request to expedite if you have a job offer, you can

hunt around for a job (hopefully you have a decent resume already made) you just can't work yet.

Keep in mind that there are a lot of couples who may not be able to get married abroad for religious reasons or the non-existence of gay marriage in certain countries or complicated local laws on marrying a foreigner. The US is quite open in a lot of these regards.

In any case, my belief is that the feeling of helplessness while waiting for the AOS process to complete is really a compounded feeling of loss of control (your old life got left behind), homesickness (missing your family) and major adjustment (your new life that still needs figuring out with all the uncertainties that come with it) - most of those aspects would occur with a CR-1 too, minus the waiting for EAD/AP.

I just checked my case status today (For EAD) and it says 'On Nov 30th we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXX and will mail it to the address you gave us'

Please God don't let this be another error. Does this mean I should have my EAD within a few days?

  • On Oct 13th AOS status was updated to say that a notice was returned due to post office being unable to deliver it. Tier two told me that it was biometrics or NOA1 (even though I had received both before this date).

  • A few weeks later I received a notice dated Nov 10th, in regards to my call about the Oct 13th notice. The new notice said that there were no RFE's or withholding on my case. So still not sure what this Oct 13th notice was about.

  • Received a letter from a NY office on Dec 23rd (dated Dec 10) stating that my medical was over 1 year old. (At this point my medical was only 7 months old)

  • Teir two submitted an internal service request to which I got a response telling me that I need to respond to RFE ASAP

  • Submitted another service request on 1/6/17. To which I got a response on 1/19/17 stating that my case was pending and is outside of processing time (no mention of RFE)
