And now the good news: (at least for me and my fiance)

WE GOT APPROVED!!! :)))))))))))))))))))))))

I can not describe, how happy I am. But right before I had a long talk with my fiance, because he was overthinking and couldn't sleep til 4 am.

And a few mins after hanging up, I checked my mails and realized, that we got the notice while we talked. Now I cannot wake him up, because he's already short at sleep.

BUT I'M SO HAPPY AND NEED TO SHARE THAT FEELING!

So for all the lovely couples still waiting: PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP! YOUR TIME WILL COME SOON AS WELL!!!

That's fantastic news! Congratulations for both of you, and thank you for all of the support you're giving to everyone else with the scans and your overall positivity.

I guess it depends on the embassy but I know some women for instance Filipina overseas workers in Hong Kong after NOA approved recently only take 1 1/2 months.  So we're hoping approved this week or next week and here late May or June in the USA.

Find a good direct flight ASAP and get her here to USA!   And get on with our lives

I hope it is this fast here in Brazil too. Well, actually, we will be having a religious only ceremony in Brazil for my family and friends on July 15th and we hope we can have like a week of honeymoon and then I can go to US with him right away. But, Lord forbid, the visa is not ready yet, at least we have some more time until August 26th. I know everyone here agree that waiting for this visa is just such big headache. Not be able to plan for sure anything and be waiting on this for our lives moving on is very stressful. But I hope we all have approved visas inside time frames!  And this website is great support, thank you all! ^_^

Be careful if your religious ceremony will take place before your actual wedding in US, and especially before your K1 Interview, than you might be taken as "too married" to receive fiance visa. Because this kind of couples should apply for different kind of visa. I would skip religious ceremony for after the real marriage in States.

I understand the concern, but there will be no documents from our religious wedding, so, they can't consider us married, because no government does consider it. So, I guess there will be no problem. I'm not sure if it could even help with the proof of an ongoing relationship and intention to marry. I wouldn't be so worried about it.

People here have done things like that and then gotten to the interview and the consular officer has found out about those ceremonies and denied them the visas on the grounds that they are "too married for a K1 and 'not married enough for a CR-1'."

There is a very real possibility they could find out, so be prepared to get fully married in that case because if they find out your only recourse will be to marry and file for CR1.

Confirmed. Nvc sent us to immigrant as well when we called (but gave us our case number anyway). My telephone-phobic fiance was freaking out. I later used the non-immigrant side nvc and it couldn't find my case number, while the immigrant side did.

But thats not correct. I call only the non-immigranat line to call. They ask me the type of visa and i told them K1.

I specifically asked them if i should call the immigrant number, they said No, this is fine :)

Thanks for the advice! wow, really seems dangerous. We will need to cross our fingers and hope for it to be approved prior to the date, otherwise we will need to call off everything. Now it got me even more anxious!

That would be great. It is serious and ceremony that joins the both of you as husband and wife is frowned up by the embassy whether it be informal or formal. I think it would be safe if you do not mention at your interview about doing the ceremony after you get the visa before you formally enter the states as that could be a red flag.

Congrats Akes. Happy to hear that you got your approval. Still waiting for mine. I am a 12/21/2016 received date so hoping that it will be this week. Going by your latest update only 188 cases for that received date yet to be touched. Wish me luck!!!

I don't intent to mention it unless they ask, of course, but I have seen the case of many Brazilians that had they religious wedding in Brazil before they move to US and they had no problems at all. I have just one friend that said they gave her a bit of a had time on the interview for the green card, but she could prove that was not a legal wedding (though it was a big and beautiful wedding), so they understood it and approved her.
