Try calling this number (603) 334-0888. It is for non-immigrant visa. So you can actually get through to talk to someone.I could never talk to anyone with the other number.

Try calling on both numbers. Case numbers are unique so its no problem. I had tried with both and was able to get info :)

hi guys I have a question. i called NVC and was able to get our case # but in order to access my case it is also asking for the Invoice ID Number that the National Visa Center sent you. Do I have to wait to get the NVC letter in the mail for that or can they give me that over the phone?

Where are you trying to access your case? The CEAC tracker doesn't ask for Invoice Number as far I am aware. I believe if you do need the invoice ID, they can give it to you over the phone.

Like @RJandHamid said, you don't need the invoice number to track your case on the ceac website (under Immigrant).

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=NIV

But yes, sure you can call for your invoice number. It was my understanding that normally they provide you with 3 pieces of info: date your case was received, case number and invoice number.

Good luck!

Thanks @RJandHamid and @Estibaliz. Yes I was able to access the tracker and it says our case is at NVC. I meant the section on the website that allows you to chose your agent and take your next steps.

I guess also my follow up question is after you got your case # and invoice # what did you do? what were your next steps?

@db2016 once your case is listed as 'Ready', you can email the US embassy in Cairo requesting information on the next steps to take. I believe they will send you a list of documents to send to the embassy via Aramex. Once they receive the documents, you can pay the visa fee and schedule the interview.

We were approved last Thursday, so we didn't start calling NVC yet :)

But, of course, next steps are country specific, so you should check with other people that have gone through the same Embassy maybe. Sure enough the Embassy will contact you once the case is ready with instructions.
