Hey Everyone,

So my fiance has his interview next week and am planning for a positive outcome.

From reading the different threads and thought would reach out here since were all in a similar timeline.

After he arrives we should wait about 10 days for getting his social security seems the general consensus.

My questions is around the I-131 the advanced parole so we can travel outside the USA fairly soon. . Can he file for the advance parole without applying for the AOS I-485?

Its just that there have been a lot of expenses and would like to wait a few months to pay the $1200.00 for the AOS.

Let me know if anyone has any information.

Thanks

R

Thank you :D  My fiance (petitioner) was with me during the process; however the CO only asked what his name was and told him to take a seat. The CO then started to interview me.

From my observation, there were many petitioners accompanied the applicants to the interview. Most of them got approvals. I said majority because surprisingly there was one applicant who got interviewed for 15 mins; the CO wasn't convinced so she interviewed petitioner for another 10 mins. I didn't know the result of their interview since my number got called. Some went alone and got approvals/ blue slips as well. So i said, if the petitioner was there, it would have been an advantage.

The paperwork I prepared follows the K1  visa instruction file

https://vn.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/40/2017/07/K-INSTRUCTION.pdf

At the document window: they will do quick document checklist, they will return those who aren't needed such as my ID card - original + copies; my Birth certificate- copy;  petitioner birth certificate- copy; copy of my passport but took the biographic page. For evidence of support, the officer returned my fiance bank account confirmation, bank statement, stock statement, house appraisal. The documents are all copy/ without signatures.

They keep original documents such as household book registration, birth certificates, passport, Original Justice Record Check #2, medical examination result.

During interview, I got asked couple basic questions, CO didnt ask for any new relationship evidences. Still highly recommend to be well prepared. :D

Good luck!!  I was happy for you that finally you got to this stage. Interview will be fine.  Right now, U can contact the Consulate to ask them if they receive your package physcially and so they could send you the email of k1 instruction letter. With it, you can start preparing the documents; schedule appointment for interview, medical exam and vaccination.

Medical examination should be done 7-10 day before interview day. You need to call in advance for those appointments.

Can the medical exam be done like a month or two ahead of the actual interview date?

I didn't know that I needed to supply bank statements since it wasn't on the list of documents needed only the W2's are listed. Is that generally what they ask for?

Finally some news!

I sent i-129f on 20 December 2016, was received 27th December. Today, 15th April 2017 received an email notice that they mailed a letter, request for additional information. Kind of a bummer to get the notice in email but have to actually wait for the letter to see what it is they are asking for. However, not going to dampen my mood that we are making progress!!

Did you receive an approval yet? Can you share why they sent an RFE?

It doesn't required. The officer took I-134 Form; IRS Tax transcript; Employment Letter. I just prepared bank statement; bank account confirmation to be extra careful. :D
