The visa is valid for 4 or 6 months after it is issued. Once she does not travel anywhere that is considered a U.S. port of entry prior to when she intends to come to be with you, she should be fine to travel. The caveat of the K-1 visa is that it is valid for only one entry to the U.S. (not multiple entry like a visitor visa) but it does not prevent you from traveling elsewhere in the world before then! Hope this helps

That's what I was hoping... She can't be the only one wanting to say goodbye to her parents, and family before starting a new life here...In the USA.

I do know, too, once in the USA, on a k-1, (90 day fiance' visa), you can't leave and go out of the country before you are married and paperwork finalized... Because it will NOT be valid.

Hi everyone. I am so happy to have came across this website! My anxiety has sky rocketed ever since I sent in the I-130 in December 2016 for my husband and then the I-129F in January 2017, but I guess that's normal when you're dying to see your other half right? LOL

A little back story, I'm from American Samoa currently residing in Alaska and my husband is from Western Samoa. We have been together for 4 years now, and were recently married in April 2016 in Western Samoa.

Both my petitions are being processed in the Nebraska Center. Anyone else being processed there too? I've read they are probably the slowest center of all and that is definitely not helping with my anxiety LOL is this true?

So glad to go through this journey with all of you and know that I'm not the only one feeling the way I feel about this entire process.

Thinking you mean the CSC? Don't believe Nebraska processes petitions any longer. So had you heard anything on the I-130? Not sure if then filing a i-129f will cause an issue due to pending I-130 application.

I'm not even sure. The last time I called USCIS and asked where my case was being processed and they told me Nebraska.

That last thing I received for the I-130 was of course the NOA1 that they've received my petition on Dec. 30.

I hope you read about the k3 being obsolete and hardly ever issued nowadays. Sending the i129f was kind of pointless and most likely it will be cancelled/ closed as soon as your i130 is approved, so you can go on with your cr1 path (a way better visa anyway)

I kindah figured that after reading through some of the forums (not many) for K3's and just about all said the same thing. At this point I really could care less on receiving any updates from the I-129f so I guess I've just donated $340 to USCIS lol

OK we are finally approved!! YES!!  And thank you all for the kind well wishes too!

Grace is going to complete the process in Hong Kong where she has lived/worked for like nine years.

My question is this, after she gets her k1 visa in her hands in HK.... Can she go home to visit her parents for a week in the Philippines before flying to the USA flying out of the Philippines?

I feel for her in that who knows when she might see her parents, it might be years or something... they are getting older too.  We do plan to go back to the Philippines to visit after a few years,  but who knows 100% anything in the future?

We we certainly do NOT want to start over In the Philippines, (there are extra classes in the Philippines like CFO and things move like pond water slow..)

Any past experiences or rules?  I have no clue. Just looking into it now.  I do know she has  a set time after getting the k-1 visa to fly here to be with me in the USA,  or the fiancé k1 visa is invalid.

Anyone know the rules?

Hate to get this wrong, but I would assume there would be no problem stopping in Philippines for a week, it could just be a connection on the flight back to U.S. and she wants to stop for a visit. I see no problem. Are you not meeting her there for the flight home?

Might refer to the specific country thread. I know my fiancée didn't have an alien number assigned. May vary by country though.

Got my approval! PPHHEEEWWWW! Biggest relief of my life! Received the letter on 20th, but was approved on the 12th. My USCIS tracker never changed!! You just have to wait for hard copy in mail, or call and ask for tier 2 officer to possibly get any real information.

I have met the most sincere people on this site, and heard the most profound stories of Love. All the people on this site are deserving of quicker atention, but it comes eventually, and beelive me the feeling is amazing, I got my first god nights sleep in ages!! Thank you DBMATHIS, GEO, AKES and everyone that has helped make this process easier, and Good Luck to all that are still waiting, it will happen!!

Congrats nealreal1! So glad it finally came for you guys. :-) It's encouraging that some of us who were left behind are starting to get approved/notice.

We have not tried calling CSC again, as every time I've talked to them I just get the same story, which isn't even a true one. I did get in touch with someone in our congressman's office and got a direct contact from that person so I'll be sending my inquiry over to them. We're going to give them a week or two to see what they can do, and for CSC to potentially get something out in the mail. After that, I'm going to call one more time to confirm that the case is still stuck in "processing," and then I'm going straight to a lawyer. I don't want to have to resort to that, and I know it's not a fast process either, but at the rate they're moving, and with their track record, it could be another few months anyway.

June 19, 2017: Called and received case number from NVC
