Hello,

Fist of all I apologize if this question has been asked already, I didnt have much luck when searching for my answer.

My Fiance has her appointment forthe K! visa interview on 12/19/16. My question is, should I try to go to that appointment with her? Will it make a difference? I am going to school and also work here in the states and so its kind of hard to just pack up and go. Does anyone have any idea how much my presence will make a difference at the interview?

Thanks,

Gabe

first you will need to check and see if the consulate there even allow the fiance to attend the interview. My fiance is from canada and I did not attend. As long as you make sure all your forms are filled out and signed your "presence" will not help or hurt the case. If you know that your affidavit of support is good, medical is fine and there is nothing on her record everything should be fine. You got your interview I saw it as more of a formality and making sure that you are still wanting to get married, some file but things happen and they are not in the relationship anymore. Seeing the person and asking the basic questions that were filled out in the original application is to weed out the ones that are only in it for the visa.

If anything it would be time to spend together or a mini vacation. personally I wish I had came to the interview because I had forgot to sign a document. if i had been there Ryan would have his visa in hand by now... no we are at the mercy of the consulate and how fast they want to process our paperwork... My only BIG caution is Check and RECHECK your paperwork especially a couple weeks before the interview so you can mail anything missing. We did it 3 days before the interview...not recommended.

Good luck gabe wish you well everything will be fine... may take longer than you want but she will get here.

Hi!

I had my interview for K1 in Bogota in December 2015, my fiance didn't come so it was just me. They allow cellphones in the Bogota embassy and I was able to let him know as soon as my visa was approved. I saw another couple applying for a K1 who were there together.

In my opinion as long as you have all the documents they ask for, everything signed and checked and rechecked there shouldn't be a problem if you can't be there with her.

Good luck!

My interview was last September 9th this year. It was only me during my interview.but I still passed the interview. Some people applying for K-1 visa had their fiancée with them during interview. . Your fiancée can still go in the interview without you. Everything will be ok . :) :)

HI,

I am sorry I did not get back to you right away.

I filed an application for My fiance to come. the whole process took us about 3.5 months. it took a little over 2 months for the embassy in Bogota to receive the papers and the email came around Nov 7, after that we scheduled the biometrics and interview appointments and that was it.

she had to travel to bogota for a few days to have her medical exam done over there, i think that was the biggest hassle for her.

Let me know if this cleared up some of your questions, i will try to respondo quicker next time
