RFE and deployed

Hi!

I saw on USCIS website yesterday that we have received a RFE and I really don't understand as we followed the list on USCIS website and also here of everything we have to send.

My fiancé who is deployed atm phoned USCIS yesterday but who refused to tell us what the rfe is about, is there anyone at USCIS we can ask for who will actually help?

This just feels really atm as I have no clue what they asking for, he can't print anything at the place he is atm, I would have to send it to him from here and if it even reaches to him it takes 3-4 weeks.

Sorry, You have to wait for RFE letter.

Are you 100% sure? I was reading online as he is deployed in a war zone he could be allowed extra help? He has nothing where he is, no access to printer or anything so I would have to print it and send. It would take months.

Does anyone know if there is any difference phoning the USCIS military helpline or should we phone the actual USCIS straight away?

Does the military helpline got any access to people's cases?

Is there no one at his home who can receive the letter and scan it/fax it/take a picture of it to send to you?

I don't know about the military help line, but I'd wait to panic as the RFE may be for something very simple that you can take care of without your fiance. (For example, new/different passport pictures from you, signed letter of intent from you, more relationship evidence, a copy of a birth cert/divorce decree ...) I'd wait and see what the letter is asking for and go from there.

Sadly not as he lives on a military base in a different state from his family.

If they need anything from me - that would be fine as I can just send it straight to the states but it would be very difficult for him as he's in the middle east right now. He can't print anything and a lot of post seem to go missing (he hasn't received everything that I've sent to him)

When you send letters to military overseas the letters first go to a military post office in the US who then ship it out to where they are deployed. Seem to take bloody ages.

If I understand correctly, the RFE is being sent to an address at a military base at the US, which I assume you listed as the mailing address on the I-129F? And there is no one who can receive mail for him there (even a friend, mailroom worker, anyone?)? How were you planning on receiving the NOA2 and NVC letter?

He has a postbox on the military base where he is stationed. Only he has access.

Do I need the noa2 and NVC letter before I'm in the US?

All I can say about the military helpline is that its just a fast way to get someone on the phone. When I used it i got someone on the phone the same as you do with the normal number, just less waiting. (Might have changed or it was just whdn i called).

Maybe a higher up can access his mail if he requests it personally? I think you will really need that letter. Tho you can try to get a tier 2 on the phone when calling and ask them, explain the situation to them, you have a bigger chance of getting an answer. They helped me out a lot :)

Hi Sanne!

Thanks a lot for your reply. You went on a k1 as well yeh? Was your man deployed while you were in process?

My fiancé is phoning USCIS all the time but he can't get hold of a tier 2 as they only do call backs and he can't have a call back as he doesn't have his own phone, he has to call from some office and they in the middle of nowhere.

Did they allow you to talk to a tier 2? I'm getting so desperate here :(

Nope, i also had a call back and my husband is in the reserves so didnt have the same situation.

Can you try calling yourself? If not, maybe he can see if there are people at his home-base that can help. I tought there are people that help you out with immigration, but i can be wrong.

Either way I really hope you can find a way, don't stress it will make you think unclear, itll all be fine in the end. Take a deep breath, do some internet research and clear your mind. You will find a solution

another tought, if he is going to be deployed for another while, i tought the tier 1 can change adress, maybe your fiance can change his mailing adress to his parents house? Never done any of it myself so you'ld have to look into that possibility

Oh I see, mine is full time and he's in Middle East right now.

Apparently I am not allowed to call, only petitioner.... It is just a big pain because I can't even plan our wedding, so unfair.
