AOS from K1 - two questions

Hi everyone,

My husband has his EAD and his AP, but it looks like his actual AOS was not touched since 6 days after we got our notice that it was received by USCIS. (October 11, 2016 is the last "touched" date online). We are not impatient, the EAD was the most important thing. The green card can take its time. But we are curious, is it normal for so many things to be processed while the I-485 application remains untouched throughout? I want to make sure that we don't need to call USCIS about anything.

Also, my husband put his wrong height on the Biometrics - do you think this matters a great deal? He was off by a few inches - getting the hang of the imperial system is annoying.

Yes it is normal. Greencard production can take up to one year some times.

You misunderstood my question. I am very well informed regarding the timelines. My curiosity comes from the "last date touched" listing online under My Cases. I specifically asked if it was normal to not be touched at all while other documents are being processed.

To be clear: I am not worried about this timeline in the slightest. We are not impatient. My husband cares little for the green card, except as his validity to reside here. Just curious about the "last date touched".

Yes, it is possible it may not be touched for a week or so. Probably explains the longer processing time.

I don't think it matters that much. The finger prints are the most important part.

As for the green card question, my wife's status didn't change on the USCIS website until it was approved.

the case tracker website is unreliable some cases just don't update when something happens so don't worry if you don't get updates its not necessarily a bad thing your case can still be progressing at a normal pace... my online case status says "may 9th fingerprint fee received" its remained at that since may 9th ive had no other update what so ever... ive already had my interview and been approved but my status has yet to update which goes to show once again the uscis case status website isn't very reliable for giving updates when things happen so don't worry if you get any updates... is really is a hit or miss of who cases get updated on the website and who cases dont

This status not updating problem can make one somewhat a little nervous lol

Is there any suggestion as to how to proceed just as a sort of precautionary measure to stay on top of things, like say... should we call in and ask for a status update from the reps? And I think from what I've read you always want to ask for someone higher up than the first rep who answers the call... something about a Tier 2 or Supervisor?

Call and ask to be transferred to a tier 2 officer... Iwould call every 6weeks for a status update.. the first people you talk to can only see what you see which doesn't help you if your case is 1 of the unlucky cases to not update so it's always beneficial to be transferred... Some people happily transfer you others will give you the run around and tell you there is no point at that point you either need to 1 hang up and call back or be am a-hole and get pushy to be transferred... I recommend call as soon as they open the phone lines cause usually after a few hours teir2 gets so busy they stop transferring calls to them and your told to call back the next day... When they do transfer you it's a callback system so you don't get to talk to a tier 2 straight away unless you like the first few callers of the day
