Hi all,

My four friends who have been through the same K1 process as me have noted that the two friends who did not file I-131 received their green cards in 6 months, whereas the ones who did, received it after 2 years! The two who did not file I-131 did not have the option to do so as they filed 8-11 years ago, whereas the other two friends filed more recently (5-6 years ago).

Has anyone else noticed if I-131 delays AOS processing times?

Apparently my two friends who filed for Advance Parole (AP) did not receive their green cards until they used the AP to travel abroad.

Help much appreciated!

I adjusted from a different status, but got my EAD/AP card about 6 weeks before the GC. In fact, the interview notice came on the same day as the AP card. So in my case, I don't think it slowed it down. Interview scheduling probably has more to do with the field office and how busy it is there.

I'd opt for including the AP, in that case you know for sure you will be able to travel in 3 months, in case emergencies arise. Although you should still be careful when planning long absences as the interview date may be scheduled at any time.

They filed a very long time ago. The GC processing varies greatly over time and with office that is processing. What you are describing would be nothing more than coincidental. Edited by Suss&Camm
