Hello everyone. I need help. 10 days ago the American embassy in Lebanon asked me to bring my passport. I gave them the passport and the officer gave me an orange paper and told me to come pick my passport along with the visa in 10 days. Today i went to take it but they gave me my passport back without a visa and told me its needs more administrative processing and they would contact me. When the officer saw how upset i was because i wasn't expecting this she told me don't be it doesn't mean something bad. And i would like to point that 3 days ago it CC changed and it went from immigrant to nonimmigrant.

Please i need some help to understand what happened and if i should be worried

That is weird.

In Lebanon, when they give you the orange slip it means that you will get your visa after few days just like the officer said. The weird part is they usually put you in AP (if there is any) before giving you the orange slip and telling you to come back.

This is what I believe happened, you were approved and everything went great and they were really going to give you your passport with a visa stamped on it, but something new came up regarding your case or something was not yet cleared for them. That's why they delayed it.

But as the officer said, that doesn't mean you are denied.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

I was in the same boat like you just 3 weeks ago, I was going crazy and stressed. I just got my visa today. I tell you something k1 visa once the creation date changed and visa type turned to from immigrant to nonimmigrant means you are APPROVED for me it took them 21 days to get me out of a normal AP.

since you don't have the 221g, you are fine. trust Allah, and just update us when you get the visa. all the best

I understand but did they took your passport and give it back to you without the visa? Because for me this is the weird but honestly so please let me know your situation exactly. Thank you for the reply

Without knowing exactly how the Lebanon embassy works, that's the part that is a bit strange to me... They need your passport to affix the visa in... but they gave you the passport back.... Thats the part that is a bit confusing me when others are saying "That's normal"... that doesn't sound normal to me..

It works like the other embassies around the world. I tried to find people with the same situation and i found a couple from lebanon actually and they went through the same situation last year. They got the visa after 7 months of waiting. Idk but 7 months is really crazy

Yes, 7 months is really crazy and tough. Keep praying that it will take only few days, or couple of weeks. AP sucks.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

Believe me all of this is nothing. My biggest issue right now is that my fiancee is asleep waiting for me to wake her up for good news and to book my flight which was planned to be tomorrow night. And i can't call her and tell her this bad news. She will be really sad she started planning for everything and she has her final in her nursing school tomorrow. God help me to make it easy for her

well they kept my passport because the embassy isn't in the same city i'm applying. i'm from jeddah us consulate in jed doesn't process immigrant visa only in ryd.

before my visa issued one day i got an email from the embassy says that my AP will take about 2-8 weeks then the next day it was issued. i'm sure in ur case will not take more than 2 weeks to ask you send back ur passport to affix ur visa.

all the best

You may be able to get more info on the workings of your embassy in the regional forum. However, giving you the passport back suggests a relatively long processing time ... if the embassy only needed another week or two, I don't think they would have returned it to you. I think you should try to mentally prepare yourself to spend some time in AP.

somehow, I don't agree since his CC and visa type turned to nonimmigrant which is obviously sign he got approved. sometimes CO get no idea about how long the AP might take to avoid any predication they give back the passport and ask back to mail it to them again! within a week.

I have seen that many times! beside that they haven't issued 221g slip to him, I'd say he will get visa and sometimes people here to get support!

however, all the best for him!

The time of the interview back on September 29th they issued a 221g slip for missing documents i gave them what they wanted but it took me time and i remember that they called me after 17 days of the interview to ask when im going to get the papers. I gave them the paper they asked for and they said it wasn't enough, so it took us like a month for them to email us that its fine and thet will call me soon. They did and it was 10 days ago and the rest is history. Im really confused as all of you. I think the only thing to do now is to stay strong and positive and hopefully we get through this soon. Thank you all for you replys.

They returned the passport because there is no sign of it being issued yet.

Once they call you to bring it back then it will go through visa issuance and or it can still be denied.

Nothing is certain when put in AP.
