Do not lie - if you're caught you will get a lifetime ban. Why risk it? You've made it so far so why jeopardize it over a lie? I'd tell the truth and possibly wait a year to come over. They WILL test your urine as now (especially in European countries) because there is so much exposure to drugs right now with everything going on - they are being very very strict about drugs right now. NEVER lie to the USCIS. They will find you out. They also monitor these sites ( I know of someone whom used to work for them.)

They will ask you if you take any drugs or alcohol. Answer honestly. If you are a regular marijuana user you will not be admissible this time around. If you smoked once or twice in your life, I seriously doubt that the doctor will find you inadmissible. Simply having tried a drug doesn't necessary result in a ban of any kind. Same goes even for alcohol: you will be asked how much you drink. Unless you are actually having an addiction problem and/or are a regular user of an illegal drug, you most likely have nothing to worry about.

THC can be in your system up to three months, actually. But taking OP's one time smoking, it could disappear in several weeks but none can guarantee that however. The reasons are such as the level of THC dose, method of intake, and your bodys metabolism rate. We can advice all we want; it's up to OP's if honesty is going to be the right answer.

Please don't advise people to lie. The question that is asked at the medical is "have you EVER used drugs?" Not "are you a drug addict?" It's not just about a bit of pot, it's about your general disregard for the law of the land. As guests in the country, we immigrants are expected to respect the laws to the letter, to be whiter than white. If you're invited to stay at someone's house, you follow the house rules. Embassy and medical employees read these forums and it wouldn't take them much time to work out the identity of the poster anyway. They probably already know.

I read recently that a VJ member in Canada declared a one-off use of pot at the medical and the doctor still signed the medical off and no ban was given. Apparently the doctor said that "didn't count". And there was a poster from the UK who admitted prior use of pot in the medical and although he was given a ban, it was less than a year.

Point is, be honest and it might not be as bad as you think. Lie and it will be worse than you can imagine.

JFH - You're right. I don't want to be blamed for someone elses misfortunes.

OP, don't lie. I also doubt that you just last week decided to try marijuana for the first time... but thats none of my business. So tell them exactly what you've done and hope for the best.

Have You seen this happen? I believe misrep can only be given if it's told to a government official.

I ment a ban like i clarified in my post couple of post below.

No one can instruct you either way.

All we can tell you is to tell the truth you face a ban either way.

Lie and it's lifetime

Tell the truth it's only one year due to your own wrong doing.

I dont know if you realize once you are getting serviced for the interview...

Any agency or rep there under is gathering evidences to produce to the CO

LYING in any stage can cause a misrep you would get at the interview when the CO sees all your evidence and further questions you.

it doesn't matter if it's legal in their country

This is correct.

Regardless of what is legal or even "acceptable" in the beneficiaries country, it is what is legal in the US that matters.

Look at the Jamaica forum, there have been many cases denied and even 1 year bans placed on people for admitting to smoking pot even if it has been several years prior.

OP, don't lie to them about it. as was stated, if you admit to it and your drug test were to come back negative, maybe nothing will happen at all and no ban would be applied..... but if you say no and they found it in your system, the repercussions would be much much worse.

Always be honest.

You are correct that USCIS monitors VJ. According to Alexa and other metrics, about 7% of VJ's traffic is from USCIS. That's a lot of snooping.

Weed (marijuana) is Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act

This canadian is banned from US eventhough he was going to washington state where weed is legal:

Marijuana is illegal at a Federal level. Immigration is a Federal process. So all federal laws must be abided by.

There are a lot of things people can do in other countries that make them ineligible for certain immigration categories in the US. Bigomy, Communism involvement, and Recreational Drug use to name a few.
