People can complain if they want too, it isn't a matter of respect or not.

It won't change the fact that the petition will sit in a box for anywhere from 4 months to 14 or more just waiting to get some action.

ROC is basically a money grab by USCIS since almost everyone is approved.

Well, call it what you want but ROC is there to filter out the fraudulent cases. It wasn't there a while back. It was only introduced as a measure to counter the spike in cases where people were getting married solely for immigration purposes.

Besides like I said, it is a privilege and not a right. The US doesn't beg anyone to come and reside here so if you make that decision, you respect the institution and process. Yes, the long wait is frustrating but to label the ROC process as a 'stupid bs system' etc is insulting to a process that is ensuring the right people are permitted to stay here. So yes, I still stand by my asserting that people should respect their host countries institutions and processses,

If it sucks, there's an option to go live in your own country.

For those of you who said that I'm losing my patience and shouldn't , here's why I'm frustrated it took my 4 years in total to get to where am at right now that's why I'm just so tired of waiting :blink: like the process is just so slow

It's not any different from the most cases of immigration. It took us about 4.5 years from filing K-1 application to me getting a Naturalization certificate. It's immigration, not a tourism, and it always takes a long time.

Btw I think you make a little mistake because you're talking about "replacement" card. It's not a replacement. After AOS you have a conditional Green Card and during ROC process you're applying for the permanent Green Card, it's the next step in the immigration and USCIS has to look into every case to decide if they want applicant to have a permanent GC or not depends on the case. Furthemore, biometrics is only first step. You may get lucky like me and simply get a new GC in your mailbox within several months or you may get RFE with a request to send them more documentation, as well as you may be reqired to pass the interview at the USCIS office later if they can't make a decision based just on your documentation.

So be patient and be prepared for possible RFE or interview. Everyone had or has to wait here.

I filed for my ROC december 2015, still not heard anything. All I can tell you is that the ROC is a very long and tedious process so try to put it out of your mind, keep busy and try not to worry about (easier said than done). I also started my visa process over 4 years ago, I also have my step-children to think about in this whole waiting game, bless them. They are just as keen to hear some good news. However, some December 2015 filers are starting to be approved at Vermont (where I filed). I have already told my husband that he is to treat us to a big plate of King Crab Legs when we get some (hopefully good) news :-) Fingers crossed for everyone who is going through the ROC process at this time.

In my opinion, describing the process as a 'stupid bs procedure' is really wrong!

There are genuine reasons why the process takes time such as background checks etc. and these are important for the safety of everyone living in America.

Yes, the process could be sped up and its frustrating that it's slow BUT to show it this kind of disrespect and to think you are entitled to these immigration benefits is not right.

Only American citizens have a right to live and work in the US..to everyone else it's a privilege.

Perhaps next time learn to show your host country some respect and respect it's institutions and processes.

If it's that bad, you could stay in your own country too!

I would like to thank you for taking the time to reply to me but i didn't really like the last sentence to stay in my own country and here's why, I am actually half American citizen my biological mother was an american and i only happened to live in Morocco because my parents divorced at an early age (they lived in Morocco since my dad had a good job). So please don't jump into conclusions that i don't respect the countries values and laws...

Some people could do with counting to 10...

It's a long process - we *all* know that and if we don't then we should have done our research before starting any part of this process. I like many I suspect, filed my ROC , got my one year extension and then filed away my VJ bookmark for six months (CSC). I'm now back as I know CSC will now start processing applications from May when I filed.

Once this is (hopefully) done I'll forget about immigration until next year when I can start the citizenship process unless the Trump has changed the rules and I will be back FOR THE LAST TIME on the USCIS merrygoround.

OP.. my suggestion is to read more of the threads, guidelines and timelines. You need to have a better understanding of the process. I understand that you are frustrated. There are many people here who have waited as long or longer than you. It's OK to vent but you need to be more informed and realistic in your expectations.

ROC isn't a money grab, it's to weed out people who married for the sole purpose of gaining a green card/residency/citizenship.

If your mother was a USC at the time of your birth then you most likely are a USC as well by birth regardless if she filed papers for you or not.

When you apply for naturalization, this is one of the questions on N-400. You most likely won't be able to naturalize as you are already a USC.

Which also means you are going through AOS and ROC unnecessarily.
