So we filed our I-129f for K1 on June 30th and received our NOA1 on July 8th. We were originally sent to California Service Center but were transferred on September 27th to Vermont. The letter I received said it was to 'speed up the process'.

Now here's where I'm getting frustrated. I checked today and found updated processing times and as of September 30th California was less than 5 months but Vermont was still processing applications from April 27th!!! They sent me to a backlogged office to 'speed up the process'?! I don't get it!

So now, as of the 8th, we'll be at the 5 month mark and if we were in California could request information on why it has passed expected processing times. I'd contact my congressman as well, but I'm not sure if I can anymore since they're backlogged in Vermont. Does that mean I'm not past the expected processing time if Vermont is backlogged? What can I do. It seems really messed up that they send me to Vermont to speed up the process if they're backlogged. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi guys, we are FEB filers. the time we were applying mostly cases were transferred to CSC due to the backlog was happening in TSC AND VSC. However with the time CSC became the only centre processing K1 visa. it's just for your knowledge, we didn't know what happened after last july after we got approved.

meanwhile that time we were hearing stories about how other centres are too late to process the applications according to the number of applicants for K1 visa only. we felt lucky to transfer our packet to CSC beside that my fiance is from AZ.

However, there is an average time to every centre you can look at VJ here. we recommend you if you have passed the official time has been mentioned at USCIS website to make an inquire about your case go ahead. if you didn't trust us there is nothing you can do to speed up this process.

at least based on our experience since last FEB till now.

about involving your congressman, another tip here save that try to a real need when it comes to the embassy level. you will understand my words when that time comes.

we wish you all the best, insh'a allah you hear good news asap

Hi everyone,

I just got an email receipt and I'm not sure if it is the NOA2. It says,

"During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators."

But in the beginning of the email it said it was transferred to another USCIS office. Anyone else get this? What is it?

Looks like by the looks of this email you Are going through security checks. That's the hold up

I would think so as well, but from what my attorney says, that's the normal transfer form and has nothing to do with an individual needing additional security checks. Don't know what to think. Nothing I can do but wait I suppose.
