Does anyone know how to quickly dissipate the smell of dried fish cooked in canola oil?

(In before "don't live with a Filipina")

The smell of dried fish is not a real problem, but if there is some easy solution, we would like to know!

boil lysol lemon scented on low heat for 30 minutes stay close to the pot as it can over boil quickly

My wife doesn't cook fish in the traditional Filipino way but I married her anyway. Turns out she is still a great women for me. My wife says to light a candle, or a few of them before you begin cooking and crack the window also.

Well after cooking Bangus I usually

1) open a window

2) put on a "new" pot and boil some water

3) Add 2-5 drops of downy fabric conditioner

and you have a house smelling of flowers (my sister hates it though )

I made up my mind and I am gonna actually try to eat it. Maybe that will make it better. Kudos on the Downy idea too!

Folks from the Philippines aren't the only ones who cook dry fish, You would have to include many Asian countries as well.

I mentioned cooking it outside, because many Indians I know prepare their curry out in their balcony/patio or their garage. An old colleague actually setup a cooking station in their garage just for cooking curry. It taste good, but they realize the smell is so strong.

I will eat about any type of food in Phiippines, and some street food can be awesome. But dried fish and that blood dish they make with pigs blood is a couple items I just can't handle.
