Hi, well, somewhat of an embarrassing questions. 10 years ago, my spouse got syphilis and was immediately treated at that time. However, this will always show reactive in blood work. The civil surgeon said the treatment had to be repeated in the US, which I understand.

So.... I'm hoping once it's "treated again" this won't be an issue with approval.

Has anyone gone through this or have any thoughts?

Of course everything is ready to be mailed, but waiting for the medical back.

Hi!

Like you already mentioned, Syphillis is indeed curable and usually treated with antibiotics or penicillin. However, any damages that have already been caused by syphillis are not curable. At the medical they will draw blood to see if you have an active Syphillis condition. Since your husband has been treated it should not cause any problems. I would however consult with the panel physician since he/she will know best.

Best of Luck to you :)

Thanks. Was treated 10 years ago and taken care of. but will always show up in blood work. So, I understand the Dr. has to "treat them again" since it was done in another country.

I'm just wondering since it's noted on the medical form if it will pose an issue or not?

When i went to my panel, the doctor told me that he will call me if anything comes back positive, so it can be treated. Thats why you should always seek out your panel a few weeks before your interview. So in your case i think they would do the same. Only antibodies will stay in the blood system. The doctor can tell if it is active or non active. My friend is a doctor, she informed me because i wanted to know everything about the panel

Nope, since it is treated you are fine. No issues. STD's are common and a treated syphillis condition doesn't make you inadmissible

Right, just antibodies which is why it comes back "reactive". You think they would would not immediately deny the I-130 and 1-485? I'm just worried they will see this, and even though the dr writes it was treated, may be a problem?

This link should answer all your questions :)

Right. I could've typed it for you but it just made more sense to give you the link. :) Your husband is fine. It also says that the antibodies don't stay in your blood forever. So maybe they are all gone, who knows??

I wish you the best of luck
