It's been 2 months since my petition was sent to them and after emailing them 3 weeks ago about packet 3 & 4, I finally go this response:

This case has been electronically loaded to Accra from the National Visa Center. However, the case has not yet been scheduled for an interview. As soon as it is, consular staff will send a call-in letter to the applicant.

Consular Section

U.S. Embassy – Accra, Ghana

I've read about people emailing them every other day and getting results. Should I email them daily or every other day or weekly or just sit tight and wait because I don't want to risk annoying them? please share your experiences

I know it's hard, but try to be patient. Nothing in this visa process is quick, especially when it comes to the Ghana embassy. If they just responded back to you, I would wait a week or two before contacting them again. Bugging them every day won't open up a space for an interview. Keep in mind they are interviewing a lot of people, spouses, finances, tourists, employment, etc. Plus they aren't the most efficient embassy. It took about 2 1/2 months for us to get the letter and it arrived at my home in the US. My now husband never got one.

In the meantime, focus on preparing your evidence and quizzing your partner. Ghana is a very difficult embassy and you need to be prepared for anything.

Thanks for the insight. I bugged them quite a few times (5 or so emails) in the past 2 days. I hope I didn't annoy them too much. It arrived at your US address? - interesting

You pay the K1 visa fees at the interview.

OK thank you so much. So should I keep waiting till I receive the call-in letter before going for the Police report and the medicals ? Pls help am confused

I would definitely wait until you get the welcome letter, which will give you the interview date. You actually can't get the medical exam unless you have the letter. The police report is only good for 6 months, so you don't want to get it too early and have it expired or close to expiring.

I went to the online tracking and saw this:

Immigrant Visa Case Number:

ACC2016XXXXX Case Creation Date: 04-Oct-2016 Status Updated Date: 21-Nov-2016

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at: http://nvc.state.gov/interview

Does that mean the packet is ready for pickup?

No. you'll recieve a call in letter from the embassy that informs you to pick up the packets but some recieve the letter in the States some recieve it in Ghana post

My status says the same thing. The status has updated 4 times since case creation and still no letter. The most recent update being 11/22

Wow this takes a lot of patience. I'm thinking of taking the case status to the embassy to try and pick up the letter. Do they give you the interview date when you pick it up or is it already preassigned?

They give you the interview date as well as information to take to do medicals and police report, this is what makes up packet 3&4
