An Amazon DASH button is a device you order (cost is $4.99 but is reimbursable), and you put it near your often-ordered items are. Like Keurig coffee refills, or laundry soap. When you see that you are getting low, you simply push the button. It then orders more of the item(s), sends you confirmation to your phone, and if you don't cancel, it places the order. All without having to go online.

I haven't used the "dash" yet, but I do have a monthly subscription through Amazon for Tim Horton's k-cups. I order it for my wife because we don't have a Tim Horton's near us and it ives her a little taste of home. I really like the coffee as well. I have used the one button ordering on Amazon, which is really convenient. I also like the Amazon Prime.

ETA: I'm not sure if the bolded part above is the "dash" you were referring to.

Okay, thanks Dave. I wasn't aware that device existed, pretty cool.

I think the economy and unemployment rate has something to do with it. Some people just don't have the money to go shopping. But that doesn't stop others in the same situation. They go and buy just as much ####### as they did before, even though they have no income nor savings. Thank God for credit. They don't intend to actually pay for the ####### they buy, they know uncle Sam (via tax payers) will eventually pick up the tab for them. They will file bankruptcy, the banks will write off the losses, and our economy ends up paying for it in the end.

Here comes a rant, sorry in advance....

If the IRS would stop letting banks write off the "losses" (read: giving credit to unemployed people, not verifying stated incomes, etc), we could get rid of Black Friday once and for all.

BTW- Our living room TV has been turning off on its own for a while now and has a small pixel line across the bottom quarter of the screen, so I'm gonna break down and buy a new one. Lasted 8.5 years. Going to BJ's Wholesale on Friday morning to get a 50" Sharp LED for $250. It's $499 now, so half price. It's something we need, and it's not online, in-store only. But I'm not going to Walmart. Then again, they start the sale on Thur 6pm, so the idiots will clean the place out by Friday. I'm not one to go on Thanksgiving, so I'm SOL on a few things that we need and saw Walmart will be selling cheap.

So people who go bankrupt are mostly responsible for the crowds on Black Friday?

Honestly, no. It's mostly stupid people who fall for the hype that these stores are putting out there. But it would help if we took away credit (and not give them any in the first place) from deadbeats. People lose their minds on this day and buy ####### they don't need just because they think it's such a great deal.

Do you realize how many people have horrendous credit in the US? There is a percentage of people who just feel like they don't have to pay their credit card bills. And the banks knowingly give them credit because they know they will write off the losses.

pay attention, the IRS caused the crowds

Yep, the system that allows it.

And the stupidity of the American public that gets dupped by the advertisements.

the system doesn't simply allow it, the system encourages it. the banks and businesses alike profit off of bad debt, so obviously, banks will offer the opportunity to incur bad debt.

Quite a few. I've worked with a few people who have gone bankrupt multiple times, they always seem to come out of it smelling like roses. I have too much of a consciense to live that way. I try to pay off all bills monthly and both my wife and I have credit scores in the 790's and sometimes they get over 800. I am always checking our scores and credit reports on Credit Karma to make sure nothing funny is going on.

Haven't been shopping on black Friday since... ever. Online is always the way to go, and then I usually pick one weekend mid-Dec to get everything else in the store in one go. You can find good deals online even before 'cyber Monday'. However, I think there's always something that gets overlooked in all the shopping craze (both in Walmarts and online), big box stores really hurt small local shops... and you can find some really nice stuff by taking a few hours to browse. We always love shopping in antique and thrift stores. No way would I go out shopping this week though, there's always someone that gets shot or stabbed at the local Walmart on Friday.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Sharp. I love Sony Bravia, but if you want a big size one I can see how you'd want something much cheaper. How much are Bravia's for in your area?

Same here, I know one person who's done it twice, and 2 people who have done it once. All 3 are doing fine, and 2 of them are unemployed (and still shopping). I don't see how people can justify it, I've never missed a CC payment, was late once in college (forgot) and my score is low 810's (812 or 813 last I checked) and only because I have a ton of grad school student loans that's I'm paying off. But no revolving debt.

But some people don't seem to care who ends up paying. Supposedly, they have tightened the bankruptcy laws, but that's BS. People are getting debt forgiven as easily as ever. And they have NEW credit cards with a couple of months. The banks keep giving them credit, taking the merchant fees when they spend like crazy, and then write off the "losses" when they don't pay their bills.

I'm not sure black Friday's dying. They've just figured out how to spread the day out over the whole month of November. I hate black Friday as much as anyone, but I'd rather have one day of craziness that I could just stay home rather than having a whole month of commercial silliness.

I actually like the early sales. They usually have better deals then Black Friday deals and no craziness. But most of my good deals comes about march when all the black friday stuff that didn't sell goes on sale. We picked up the Else princess castle for $40 from 120 Black Friday had it for $99. Thing is you never know what will go on sale but it works for me.

We picked up a 65" from the left overs from Black Friday back in March for 499.

I think ppl are nuts for wanting to go out at 6pm for the sales they aren't that great either. Heck last year my husband asked the guy at Walmart what time ppl started lining up he was saying they started at noon. They missed the whole day they should have had with their family.

I hate that Walmart isn't doing anything on Friday or Saturday like they used to. Yes the month long sales are nice but PJ's and Towels or sheets and things like that would kill them to have them last a bit longer.

I thought I saw something that Walmart is adding their cyber Monday to their Thursday sale. Don't know how true that is but I bet more craziness will happen just because ppl will think they are.

I like Kohl's on Friday morning they tend to still have things I want. I'm trying to get a few things for my oldest as he's getting married and things for the house would be helpful.

Kohl's said they were doing there black friday sale all week online but no kolh's cash I would guess doing it that way. I need towels with 6 kids(big ones and little ones) they go through towels and kohl's has some decent ones for a good deal.

Please tell me how to get people with no or low income approved by a bank. It would triple my yearly income

Kohls is pretty great btw, you can order online and pick it up in-store, or you can just get it right to the house. They have great online sales too, even on Thanksgiving itself while you're waiting for people to show up or you're bored by football. And husbands should take note: they also have great sales on jewelry for the ladies in your lives. (F)
