Your friend is incorrect. The date you see on your card is the date it will expire.

You should apply to remove the conditions on your permanent resident status within the three months prior to the expiration of your card.

mylove,

Not true. It will expire on the second anniversary of you having been granted LPR status, if you were granted LPR status prior to your second wedding anniversary (which is probably what confuses your friend).

Stephen,

If you read the form instructions, it is abundantly clear. The forum answers should be for after you read the instructions, but still don't understand (which happens!)

When Should I File the Petition?

1. Filing jointly. If you are filing this petition jointly with your spouse, you must file it during the 90 days immediately before the second anniversary of the date you were accorded conditional resident status. This is the date your conditional residence expires.

If you are not filing jointly with your spouse, please read further in the instructions.

If you do not know the date your Conditional residence expires, please see the front of your Green Card; the date will be noted there.
