Oh god that is a horrible coincidence. I don't know what the hell I would do if I was in that situation. Name change maybe?

Honestly, it would be inconvenient and a pain in the butt to sort out but not as terrible as you're making it out to be. Like everyone before me said, the U.S givernment uses biometrics and they're a lot smarter than you're giving them credit for. Yes, mistakes happen as with your green card, but mistakes can be fixed and rectified with just a bit of patience. Those name check websites go by publicly available information so the information they have is not as narrowed/specific as that which can be found using biometrics and fingerprints.

For the size of the U.S population, imagine how many people share the same first and last name???? A bit silly to be freaking out over this.

I'm a USC (Child of US Citizen born abroad/naturalized) and sponsor of my spouse. There is a woman with my same name who is a convicted child molester. She was born in the same year as me. Luckily, we don't live in the same part of the US, but I was a little nervous when I was going through the I-130 process.

I'm betting somebody did a name search instead of an A# search or SSN search when you went through the first time. It should not happen again - but if there is a question, you can always say this happened before, and you know there is another LPR out there with your same name.

My US married name is just about as common as you can get. It's akin to "John Smith". There's even a radio DJ in the area with my same name... I've never had any issues.

There's nothing to "destroy your mental health" over. No reason to change your name.
