" A federal judge presiding over a citizenship ceremony in San Antonio told the soon-to-be Americans that they needed to accept Donald Trump as their president, “and if you do not like that, you need to go to another country.”

If I had worked hard to become a citizen, I would have liked a little better speech at my ceremony. It's not like any of them are the ones with the pitchforks and the "Not my President" signs. I feel bad because I'm sure for many of them this was a very proud moment, and it just seems like the Judge is jumping to a conclusion or assuming things about them without knowing anything about them.

That's a little harsh. The judge should've been a little more cordial. Being that condescending, especially to people who obviously jumped through the hoops of legal immigration, is kind of uncalled for.

He should've said: "If you don't like that, I encourage you to take up an interest in local politics and actively vote in the future. As a citizen, your vote matters."

I thought moving from America if you did not like the outcome of the new election was all the rage

Realistically all of the people becoming citizens at that ceremony have been working on it since long before the election so it actually has nothing to do with the election.

This was equally as distasteful as the Hamilton staff.

As someone who just attended his own ceremony just over 2 months ago, even though Trump does not scare me personally, I'm not sure I would have appreciated the judge bringing that into it. In our ceremony we did get a recorded speech from Obama though as it was citizenship day they called it a "treat" but I wanted to go to sleep after already sitting there for an hour and a half.

I would argue it is worse since it was done by a Judge, who is a public official, and not an artist.

As is telling folks who disagree with you where to go

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

The MDL and their anger. It's so cute. Tell me, where do you want me to go and is it a family friendly place ?

I am just agreeing with you..we are in a different era. Why pretend we are going back to civility, dialog and mutual respect?. Trump has moved us into the post respect era. Edited by Rob L

I think he was telling them to not act like a baby, and buck up and don't listen to all the liberal media, to make your own choices. Basically don't be a Snowflake

We're on the same page here as well. Seems to me that a good amount of people have lost all sense of "a time and a place for everything".

You really want to say that this was "equally distasteful"? This was a Judge, a public official, saying something distasteful at a citizenship ceremony. How is that "equally" distasteful as cast members of a play making a political statement?

I get that you think they are both distasteful, and that's fine. But "equally" is pushing it a little bit I have to say.
