A spokesperson didnt immediately respond when asked why he deleted it, but the episodesilly as it seems amid this Trump fatigue were all suffering fromis a troubling development in the nascent Trump transition to the White House, which has thus far been a series of events confirming the president-elect hasnt been humbled by the enormity of his new position in the world, but in fact may see his election as proof that his personality, including or most importantly its least savory facets, is winning.

It goes without saying that the United States is now the only first world country whose incoming president moonlights as a cultural critic online. Its too early to guess what this will ultimately mean for our status in the world, but the future looks bleak.

One thing we can say for certain as of Saturday night: Trump definitely wrestled his phone back from Kellyanne Conway.

Trump has star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was the star of a successful hit tv show, this chump is only doing a play, I suspect he might of won Thespian of the year in his local high school class. Typical Snowflake

Valid Point, I hope to see a backlash for this event. I think this is Trumps way of saying do your job and do the play, if you want to discuss politics then do it on your own time, not when your getting paid to play make believe.

Actually, do they have the constitutional right to do this while at work? I know my speech is limitled when I am at the workplace. Now these actors are paid workers, and they were at the workplace, so I think there is an argument there. Now if they expressed their beliefs outside the workplace then it would be a different story.

That being said, Trumps response was, as already mentioned, very childish. As many Trump supporters have said to the snowflakes in their safe spaces, "suck it up".

I do think what they did was completely uncalled for. He came to have some quality time and watch a show, not be ambushed and harassed by the crew. They did not do the same to Clinton when she attended the play. Same with Bernie who got a standing ovation. You don't take it upon yourself to use what's supposed to be a night of art and recreation and appreciation for American history to lecture the vice president elect, I'm sorry, there is nothing right about that. It's disrespectful and obnoxious.

That said, Trump's comment on it makes him sound like a snowflake. To Pence's credit, he stood there and listened, I would have left.

I think artists have the right (and the constitution agrees) to voice their opinion. I think he knew before going to the play that the majority of the cast don't agree with a lot of his beliefs. The play itself even speaks out against some of what Trump/Pence believe in without them making a speech at the end.

Artists have no requirement to be unbiased. They can say what they want. If people don't want to hear it, they don't go or don't buy tickets. If you already bought tickets and don't want to go, please send them to me. I'll see it again.

It's not Trump's right to say that. It's the theater owner, director etc... If they want to limit their cast they have every right to. They can fire them if they want to. I'm sure they completely agree though. They didn't have to make the speech for the play to speak for itself.

Are you seriously trying to compare Trump's "acting" ability to a broadway cast? Did you watch the apprentice? Trump didn't need to act.

I haven't seen Hamilton since the cast changed, but I'm sure they are just as amazing as the original cast.

And why aren't you calling Trump the "Snowflake" in this instance? He seems really hurt and in need of a safety hug right now.

What if it was a topless political bar? You can exercise your right to not give them your business. That's all. Any more complaining and you join the snowflake club.

Hamilton already has several political messages. It addresses immigration, the blending of cultures in america etc... It is by definition a "political" musical by a diverse cast and crew of "liberals". I'm not surprised they said anything. I think it would have been more strange if they didn't acknowledge it.

As long as their theatre owner and producers are okay with what they did, they are fine. Complain by boycotting it. Anything more and, once again, join the snowflake club.

Wellll, it's a little more nuanced than that. The show is basically political in its plot. Also, the actors didn't interrupt the performance to address Pence, they did so after the show was over. It is pretty unprofessional of an actor to start using the stage as a soap box just because there's a political figure in the audience. I honestly wouldn't have minded it so much if they had just worded whatever they wanted to say better, for example, if they would've just wished Pence to do a good job, instead of trying to politicize it. Anyway, Pence himself certainly handled the whole thing pretty well. Trump really just needs to take a break from Twitter every now and then!

There are several musicals out there (Monty Python's Holy Grail musical, Book of Mormon, a few others) that alters the words/lines in the musical to suit current events. Often times they express pretty blatant political opinions in those, and will make fun of politicians or current events.

The Hamilton cast decided that it didn't fit into the text of the musical, so they just tacked it onto the end instead. Again I see no problem with it. I think freedom of expression and speech for artists is important. It's up to the listener to decide whether they care or not.

I also agree though, props to Pence for listening to the whole thing regardless of whether he is going to take it to heart. It certainly would have been embarrassing, so to stick around takes guts (though he did go into the hallway apparently).

As a side note - It's not overrated. It's very good. The musical is incredibly well written and the casting is perfect. I would say the only "less impressive" part is the stage production itself. It is rather sparse so nothing to write home about. It relies more on dance and imagination. Nothing wrong with that, just not "impressive" like Les Miserables or Phantom's stage is with their multiple giant moving parts.

Ya I completely agree (Though I remember when I saw Rent I didn't quite get what the fuss was about. it had a few catchy songs but a lot of it was forgettable to me).

I wasn't saying the production should have had a big crazy complicated set. Just that in terms of its "Wow" factor, to me it was in the music, lyrics and casting. Not the production values themselves. Honestly though I think that is the best kind of musical because it is easier to reproduce in smaller companies around the country/world. Les Miserables without its "Barricade" always looks funny to me. Hamilton with good singers and absolutely no stage props would still be incredibly good in a local production.
