Hi, I'm confused by question 15. b of the I-485 application (application to register permanent residence or adjust status). It asks if the beneficiary has served in any prison, jail, prison camp, detention facility, labor camp, or any other situation that involved detaining persons.

Is this asking if the beneficiary has been detained at these facilities or is it asking if he has worked in one? Thank you to anyone that can help!

They are yes or no questions. Did he or not? Serve time.

I will not look back on this journey with fond memories, but I will look back knowing that every step was worth it, whatever the outcome.

You're wrong.

"Served in any prison, jail, prison camp, detention facility, labor camp, or any other situation that involved detaining persons?"

The question pertains to working in such a place. Serving there means working there. As opposed to serving time which is not what the question is about.

The question does NOT say serve TIME. It says serve as in work.
