Hello,

I just got my EAD card today! Now I need to apply for a Social Security number. I read somewhere online that it might be possible to get the number on the day of the application before receiving the actual card. Is this correct?

I also read that they have to verify the info that we give them and this might take 4 weeks... In this case, I guess they would not give me a number on the day I apply.

Let me know your experience!

Thank you for your help!

I doubt very much they will provide you with a number on the day of asking, nothing is that simple or efficient!

The verification is dependant on systems being updated in time, the verification will be done by cross referencing the information you supply during the SSN application and SAVE system.

It can take up to 4 weeks for USCIS info to be updated however I went probably less than a week after receiving my EAD and the office confirmed to me there and then that they were able to locate me in SAVE and to expect my SSN card shortly in the post.
