I'm curious about the people who have received a 221g form from their interview and if/when they reached out to the Embassy for updates on their status?

My case is a little strange as my fiancé received both a 221g (white) form asking for a document we didn't know we needed and a letter of welcome to the US with domestic violence pamphlet. In this welcome to the US letter it says he will get his visa one week after the interview or one week after the documents are submitted. It's been almost 2 weeks and our CEAC status hasn't been updated once. Not even when the Embassy received that missing document two days after the interview.

Aramex told my fiancé to contact them 10 days after dropping off the document and his passport. So he'll be calling them tomorrow. But I'm wondering about what others have done in regards to contacting or not contacting their Embassy after no movement. I don't want to annoy someone at the Embassy and have them "lose" our file for a while. But I don't want it to go unlooked at too. There has been no update to the case since the interview.

I did call DoS/NVC yesterday to see if they had a status update. They couldn't see any movement on the case either, but did reassure me that the case hadn't been returned to them and was still with the Embassy.

What have you done after getting a 221g form? Did you wait patiently without contact or did you reach out? If so, when did you reach out to your Embassy?

There are 2 types of AP, one for things like missing documents and one for security checks. I assume you are now in the second.

Hi again,

I don't know if emailing the embassy itself might put u in the image of your visa status. since DOS can't tell you anything regarding your fiance case means is embassy didn't update his status and might be pending like us. we called DOS yesterday too and told us what I post in your other thread. there wasn't any update since the interview date which OCT 25th and everything look good but it's in internal check at the embassy level.

I recommend you to email them and wait for a respond, remember it's your right to be in the same page to know what's going on with your fiance's visa status.

all the best for all of us insh'a allah :)

I agree, sounds like he is in security checks (AP), which is the norm with MENA men and now even the women K1 beneficiary's.

All you can do is wait out the AP security checks.

When i emailed at Casa i always got a response / sometimes took a couple of days but they did respond

Did the embassy keep his passport? IF not, then you probably will learn the case was sent back to US

The Embassy does have his passport. But the case in CEAC still says READY for interview without any update to the Update Status Date. Which is why I want to poke them to find out what is going on.

Casa is not good at updating the immigration site

Adil had his visa and was here almost a year before the CSEA site said visa issued

however, they did respond to our emails

Since they kept his passport, more than likely just a security check and all will be good

incha allah
