The left have been enjoying themselves quite a bit the past year, predicting that Trump will lose. Talking schmack to those who support Trump, as well as to those who don't support Hillary (those are not the same). Mocking them because they are backing a racist, mysogynistic, xenophobic candidate who will destroy America, and he has NO CHANCE of winning. So yeah, for some, it must feel good to be giving a little bit back. But don't worry... Just like the moon and the sea, the tides, they come and they go. Five years from now, it will be the same discussions. Just some different players, is all.

Ya that is what I imagine. I think I've caught the forums at a time when a certain group are very "proud" (and maybe rightly so, they won so they deserve it). However their "gloating" ends up looking childish, petty and quite empty in terms of real substance (videos of Clinton saying one word on repeat making her sound funny? Again, what are we 12?). It may only seem that way though because I didn't see it before the election. I'm sure there was a lot of "Your candidate is a joke, he'll never win etc...".

It would be very good if the gloating, bickering, name-calling, and insults could stop. Take those away and maybe CEHST could have productive discussions. We currently have a two party system in America. That system is filled with voices and ideas that are very different from one another, but one thing is for sure.. at least I hope that they care. That's what the system is supposed to be more or less, because if it was only ONE voice, and everyone was the SAME, with one party, it would not be the diverse republic we live in now. I feel Trump is a fascist and a dangerous individual that threatens democracy and this republic. But his supporters here do not. I can't change your mind on that, but I hope with time, you will see that for yourself. Hopefully by then it will not be too late. His supporters may feel the same way, but they will not get that message across with mean-spiritedness and taunting.

My position is when did America stop being great, and who has the right to determine what is and isn't great? America has always been the place that it its really what you choose to make of it - even during it's more negative aspects (that's the nature of freedom). It would be great if we could find some common ground and work from there. I suspect a lot of things will happen during this Presidency, and it will not be as rosy as some here claim - and if I'm right, we're all going to need to look to our brothers and sisters of differing opinions to stand beside each other with common ground and fight to protect one another. We are all adults hopefully, but sometimes.. I wonder if people come on here frustrated after a hard day, and decide to antagonize for no reason other than it makes them briefly feel better.. or they have been drinking too many shots. The internet of course gives us the ability to do so without little consequence, and that makes it seem all the more childish.

You nailed it. I personally gloated in two posts, towards Teddy, because A) He deserved it, and 2) He can take it.

It is getting old. And this too, will pass. But after 4 years of gloating when Obama was ruining running things, it's just a change in sides, nothing more. People sometimes just cannot be convinced to either be happy with where they are in life, or to do something positive to change their lives.

You have a candidate who has run on the back of raiding as much of the Republican coffers as he could get away with (need to see the proof he's spent $100m of his own money on this as he has alleged. That figure itself tells you everything you need to know in terms of the notion that even little Johnny could one day hold the keys to the greatest office in the Western world..... not gonna happen).

Taking the right wing views and somehow legitimising it by riding the establishment is one huge play and the audacity itself should be commended (a gamble that paid off handsomely) but let's not kid ourselves, his history is one of a more liberal leaning, democratic campaign donations, previously held beliefs etc.

He is the 3rd party candidate for all intents purposes. Running as such would have cost too much so hijacking the The Grand OP was a more cost effective way.

Don't forget there are many on the red side who do not believe he speaks for them.

Agree that you shouldn't be willing Trump to fail because he's quite capable of doing that all in his own. It's just how catastrophic the decisions he makes will be that's all and how permanent. There will be no draining of the swamp... politics doesn't work that way... jobs won't all come back to the depleted Russ belt (whatever that is). What incentive you going to give to rebuild the dilapidated factories and have the jobs "come home".

They haemorrhaged jobs since the 80's... anyone want to mention that automation has taken over since then so jobs that took 500 hard working blue collar salt of the earth "men" can now be carried out by 50 with double the output and capacity.... progress I think they call it.

Yes use huge infrastructure projects to get a temporary stay but who's going to pay for all that?... the elite from their huge tax breaks? I think not... debt will rise (he's a businessman don't forget and leverage is his mantra, people want him to run the country like his business.. let the lord help us! He's not playing with investors money now but the wealth and future of a nation instead).
