My fiancé lives in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She was divorced in 2012, and moved in with a sister. Her family registry book lists only her name but shows her address as the one her former husband lives at. I am concerned that this will raise a red flag when I file the I-129F. Has anyone encountered this before. She thinks we should list her registered address on the I-129F. On the G-325A she listed her previous and current address to show a five year time line.

I think the U.S Embassy will use whatever address she lists within the I-129F to deliver K-1 related information to later on down the road. If she included both addresses on the G-325A, and listed her sisters address as her current address there, she should be fine using that address on the I-129F in place of her registered.

I'm not sure if by using an address other than what she is registered under would have repercussions for her once the packet reaches her country- I understand every country has different laws and ways of doing things, so she must still be registered under her ex-husbands address for a reason. If this is the case, doing what she thinks is best (using the registered address in her family registry) is probably the right way to go.

You could always include an attachment briefly describing the situation above to avoid any confusion with USCIS if you feel safer by doing so- if she has to list her registered address rather than current, she could briefly explain why. This isn't necessary, but if you feel a need to clarify or that by doing so would help, rather than hurt, your case, it's something to consider.

Hopefully this helps a bit, I know I'm not in the same region but some advice might help if you don't receive additional answers. Good luck and I hope it works out for you both :)

The only time that the consulate would contact your fiancee is when they mail her the Packet 3. If she passes the interview, you can update her current address (where she lives) with EMS so they can deliver her visa. It will be hand delivered by EMS and they will ask her to fill out an address form when she leaves the consulate.

The Packet 3 is no big deal. It is just a letter with her HCM-XXXX number and a link to view the K1 instructions. You can always go to the consulate website and request a copy be sent to your/her email so she can take it to the med exam and vaccinations. My then-fiancee never got hers and I had to request a copy.

I would not worry about it too much.

Thank you for your reply. I think I understand what you are saying. To clarify, as I currently have the forms filled out, the G-325 lists her current residence as her present address while the I-129F under question 29, address abroad, lists her previous address which is what is still shown on her SỔ HỘ KHẨU. I believe she did this to simplify taking care of things for her two sons who still live with their father. I was questioning whether someone at USCIS would view this as an error or a discrepancy.
