Congratulations Koolaidman!!!

Your interview seemed very similar to ours - I bet we had the same CO. He asked us similar questions and was glad to know that we lived together in Brazil. He asked me questions (in English) about where my fiance is from because he wants to visit there.

Our interview, however, was in Portuguese because that is the only language that my fiance speaks. There was no problem that my fiance doesn't speak English because I'm fluent in Portuguese.

You know, I have heard from friends of mine down here in Belo Horizonte and also from Americans (before I came to Brasil) that the immigration process was extremely expensive, difficult, and that Rio was hard to deal with. I have experienced nothing but the contrary (except the expensive part), and from reading all of the reviews, it seems that most people have had similar experiences: nice and easy.

I wonder if things used to be different, or if I only heard the worst?

I want to thank everyone on the site for helping when I had questions, and I look forward to helping people who file through Rio de Janeiro in the future!

Expensive: well yeah, all the fees, the medical, the travels, it can be expensive.

Difficult: yes, for us the part where we had to wait and be separated while doing such, seeing others starting the process later and getting approved earlier and having no power to change that.

Rio hard to deal: I disagree. Was a piece of cake for us at least. I believe it is hard when someone has a complicated case. People that were involved with some illegal activities, jail, drugs (either the USC or the BRC), someone with some divorce issue, someone who entered US in the past and overstayed or tried to enter during the process, things like that.

Still it is best to expect the worst and have a nice surprise when everything goes well than the other way around

Ours was a royal pain in the @ss only because our lawyer screwed it up and we almost went home empty handed. But Rio was awsome and we never had a problem with this city or the hotel and even the people at the consulate helped us get everything straightended out in the end.

Congrats!!!

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

Hi. I was wondering if someone new exactly what is in the Brazil RDJ Packet 3? I see on this website that the DS-2001 and DS-230 and Passport Photo and Passport information are required. Are these the only items required for us to mail to the Embassy? Are there any other papers that my fiance will be required to mail to the Embassy along with these forms, such as, the police reports, etc...? Can you say exactly what we will be required to mail in to the Embassy in packet 3? Thank for you help.
