Benefits available for fiance upon arrival?

I heard that there may be some benefits available to my fiance once she arrives in the US.

Things like job assistance, language education, possible health services (even if just basic stuff like family planning), etc etc....

Does anyone have any solid information about this or can help point me in a direction to find such information?

The only thing I know of is the public library. My husband goes to free classes at our main library. They have quite a few learning opportunities, language, literacy, computers, GED, etc. It gets him out of the house until he can work and he has made a few friends there.

Idk about medical. He just went without for a couple months until we got married and then I added him to my plan. Planned parenthood may be a start.

My wife got no family planning help. She went to Planned Parenthood and told them she was not working and she paid to see a doctor and she wrote a prescription for BC pills.

She went alone to the visit, She was able to buy the pills at Costco for $30 per month. I heard Planned Parenthood helped out woman, but she didn't see any help.

We have since then had friends bring BC pills back from her home country and they only run $3 per month.

I know in Texas, there is a woman's health plan that you can qualify for if you don't qualify for medicaid. (Either you make too much or aren't eligible). https://yourtexasbenefits.hhsc.texas.gov/programs/health/women/healthy-texas-women

Planned parenthood is a good source though. They have been my primary source for all things lady even when I had insurance. For 6 months of birth control, it was 94$ for a consultation and the first month of birth control, then 20$ per BC pack every month for 5 more months. It's like 148$ for a year long prescription. The last time I went in, I told them how much I made, they actually comped the cost for me and simply asked for a donation. Ended up with six free months of birth control.

Also, I think there's a difference between "help" and "financial help". You mostly won't find any place give out free birth control, I've been using my PP for about 3 years now and this is the first time they asked about finances. Places might give out free condoms, but not free birth control pills.

It could be that they may get "no income" too often to where they won't help out. I showed them my pay stubs, and they gave the prescription and BC for free.

A lot of places here aren't willing to offer financial help unless you have SOME type of income.

But honestly, 98$ for a 6 month long BC prescription and 20$ per pack isn't that bad. You can't really beat that unless you have insurance, in which you'll still pay more for the insurance than you would the BC pills and prescription.

First off, I'm pretty sure you have to be a USC or LPR to get any financial assistance from PP.

I don't think they help out ALL women, and in Texas. almost all things like this, they want SOME form of income. You can't get welfare, medicaid, or women's health benefits WITHOUT having at least like 100$ a month of claimable money.

It's because in Texas they want the person asking for benefits to be TRYING to work or find work. I personally wasn't able to get Medicaid for myself when I had 0$ income, until my daughter started receiving disability payments, since I'm her representative they counted me as receiving the money and then said I was eligible for medicaid.

You -HAVE- to prove income when you want some financial help, the problem is, it's very hard to prove NO income as you're trying to prove something doesn't exist. If they gave out free BC to those who said they have no income or job, everyone would just say that for free services because they could just say "Well I have no proof, I have no income!"

If you have no income then it becomes a question of how are you living? If you say you're married with a spouse and that's how you're living, they'll want to know the spouses income, which then immediately puts you at having income.

This is from a PP website from Washington:

"Proof of Income: Pay stubs from the previous 30 days. If you are 17 years of age or younger, you do not need to report parents' income. Patients receiving unemployment benefits or making less than $500 per month need to provide an explanation of how they are meeting their needs. - See more at: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-mt-baker/free-birth-control-annual-exams#sthash.gapEObVv.dpuf"

Proof of Citizenship/Residency: State or Government issued identification and a valid Washington state address. A valid social security number and an unexpired LPR or "green card" if you are a permanent resident. - See more at: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-mt-baker/free-birth-control-annual-exams#sthash.pRni6S0X.dpuf
